One Dead, Five Injured in Multi-Car Crash in Sumter County
A massive collision that took place along the Florida Turnpike in Sumter County resulted in numerous injuries as well as at least one fatality on the morning of Friday, December 27th. This end-of-the-month crash occurred close to the mile marker 303, well within Sumter County, and resulted from a rear-end collision.
Man Dies in Industrial Accident in Orange County
Authorities in Orange County are among the numerous groups investigating an industrial accident that took place towards the end of January. Not much is currently known about the incident at this time, at least not much has been relayed back to the public. It is possible that the investigations undertaken at this time have unearthed information that simply hasn’t made its way to news outlets.
Four-Car Crash Caused by Osceola County Sheriff’s Deputies
A multi-car crash that took place within Osceola County on Friday, January 24th, and that resulted in the injury of several individuals, is under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. Reports from the FHP indicated that it was sometime during the day when two vehicles had approached and then stopped at the light governing the intersection between Boggy Creek Road and Boggy Terrace Drive.
Cocoa Police Investigate Late-January Pedestrian Death
Police working with the Florida Highway Patrol close to Cocoa have released a statement regarding the death of a pedestrian who was on foot and attempting to cross U.S. 1 when they were struck and killed by a car. At the time of this writing, the name of the 57-year-old victim has not been released by the authorities. It is not clear if they have been identified.
Child Killed in Motorcycle Accident in Flagler County
Little is currently known about an incident that took place in Flagler County towards the end of January that resulted in the death of a child. What we know so far comes from reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, members of whom arrived at the scene shortly after the motorcycle accident took place. It is not clear who called the police or if an officer stumbled upon the incident sometime after it happened.
Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Orlando Hit-and-Run
Investigators with the Orlando Police Department are looking for the driver responsible for a hit-and-run accident that took place in Orlando, along North Orange Blossom Trail, on the night of Wednesday, January 29th. At the time of this writing, reports from the police have issued all of the currently known details, although because the individual behind the wheel of the car involved fled from the scene, there is only so much information that is actually available.
One Dead, One Injured in Two-Car Crash in Marion County
Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol working within Marion County were among the first responders to an incident that took place on Tuesday, January 21st, and resulted in the death of a 62-year-old individual. Reports from the FHP stated that the car accident is believed to have taken place at or around 9:00 at night, as an individual inside of a 2004 Toyota SUV was driving down the northern lanes of U.S. 27. It is believed that the 62-year-old was alone inside of their vehicle. In front of the Toyota was another vehicle traveling in the same direction.
Garage, Cars Damaged in Clermont House Fire
A home close to the Central Florida city of Clermont suffered in a fiery blaze on Tuesday, January 21st. On hand to fight this fire were members of the Lake County Fire Department as well as other first responders and paramedics. At the time of this writing, much of the information around the incident remains either unknown or removed from public knowledge. Confirmed in the reports, however, is the fact that the incident was reported during the morning at a home located close Clermont, along Charter Oaks Trail.
Daytona Police Department Attempting to Combat Bike and Pedestrian Deaths
Police officers inside of Daytona Beach are working hard on a new program aimed at ensuring that the number of deaths and injuries suffered by bikers and pedestrians within their city begins to drop. According to a report from News 6, the initiative began sometime after it was revealed that Daytona Beach ranks 4th on the list of most dangerous mid-sized cities in the entire state of Florida. In an effort to increase safety for pedestrians and bikers in the area, the High-Visibility Enforcement project will focus on increasing communication to both bikers and pedestrians.
Saint Leo Student Dies in Single Car Crash Close to Tampa
On Wednesday, January 15th, a 19-year-old student from Saint Leo University was traveling along an unnamed road close to the city of Tampa when they were involved in an auto accident. Reports from troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol indicated that the 19-year-old player, known for his skill on the lacrosse field as well as being part of the Air Force’s ROTC program, was behind the wheel of a 2018 Dodge Challenger when something happened to cause them to lose control of the vehicle.
