Child Killed in Motorcycle Accident in Flagler County

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on February 1, 2020

Little is currently known about an incident that took place in Flagler County towards the end of January that resulted in the death of a child. What we know so far comes from reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, members of whom arrived at the scene shortly after the motorcycle accident took place. It is not clear who called the police or if an officer stumbled upon the incident sometime after it happened.

It was along Blare Castle Drive, located in Palm Coast, that an adult and a child were traveling aboard a motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle had driven the bike south of the Palm Coast Parkway as well as only slightly to the east of Interstate 95. They were traveling along the roadway when something happened to cause the driver to lose control of the bike.

It is not known if the reason behind that has to do with the adult on the bike being distracted as they were driving or if there was something else, perhaps an issue with the road itself, that caused them to begin to swerve. It is known that before the driver could regain control of the motorcycle, they collided with a pole located along Blare Castle Drive. The force of the impact caused both the adult and the child to suffer from severe injuries.

When the emergency medical response teams reached the area, they attempted to resuscitate the child, but the injuries that this person had sustained in the crash were too severe to be treated. They were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the bike was also badly injured in the incident, and the authorities rushed them to Halifax Health for treatment of their injuries, which were deemed to be critical.

At the time of this writing, no further identifying features of either the driver of the passenger are available. It is believed that additional facts relating to the accident will be released as the investigation continues, hopefully with the authorities managing to come up with an answer regarding the reasons behind the crash in the first place.
