Garage, Cars Damaged in Clermont House Fire

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on January 29, 2020

A home close to the Central Florida city of Clermont suffered in a fiery blaze on Tuesday, January 21st. On hand to fight this fire were members of the Lake County Fire Department as well as other first responders and paramedics. At the time of this writing, much of the information around the incident remains either unknown or removed from public knowledge. Confirmed in the reports, however, is the fact that the incident was reported during the morning at a home located close Clermont, along Charter Oaks Trail.

It was just about 6:00 in the morning when the fire departments in the area began to receive calls reporting the fire. The reports did not include any mention of who is believed to have placed the calls. It is possible that they were placed by one of the occupants of the home, but it is also possible that a passerby noticed the smoke from the fire and called the emergency response crews to the area.

As soon as they were notified, members of the Lake County Fire Rescue team rushed with paramedics and EMTs to the location of the fire. When they arrived, they found the home in question billowing smoke. Reports indicated that the primary area of the home that was affected by the fire was the garage, where at least two cars were parked at the time. It is not clear if the fire spread far beyond the garage or if it remained fairly relegated to the structure, however pictures from the scene show that the building and the garage are connected to one another. This means that it is extremely likely that at least part of the home itself was damaged in the fire.

The reports also indicated that the cars inside of the garage at the time of the fire were damaged by the flames. It is not known if the cars suffered damage extreme enough to render them totaled or if they will be recoverable after some light bodywork.

Inside the house at the time of the fire were two men, both of whom were able to escape without incident.

The reasons behind the fire are still under investigation.
