Fire at Orange County Food Packaging Facility Battled by Fire Rescue Crews
On Monday, April 29th, the Orange County Fire Rescue began to receive reports of a fire burning at a location along Jetstream Drive. Fire rescue crews immediately departed from numerous locations throughout Orange County in order to reach the site of the blaze and extinguish the flames before they spread too far. The crews were also unsure of whether or not any individuals were inside of the building they were trying to access, and this likely led to an even greater deal of trepidation on the part of the firefighters making their way across the county.
Three-Year-Old Dies in Kayak Accident Near Tampa
Officials in the town of Bradenton, close to Tampa, are investigating the death of a three-year-old child who was involved in a kayak accident while in the water off the coast of Snead Island in Manatee County. According to the official reports, the incident happened on Saturday, April 27th, although it was not immediately clear at what time it took place.
Hit-and-Run Victim in Orlando Calls for Driver Responsible to Come Forward
Yet another hit-and-run accident in Orlando has left police searching for the perpetrator even as the victims call for the person responsible to come forward. The incident, which took place on April 5th, was captured by the dash-cam of another driver. The video shows how the accident along the 408 Expressway in Orlando came to be, as well as the startling aftermath.
Motorcyclist Dead After Three-Vehicle Crash in Volusia County
A crash involving at least three vehicles, including one motorcycle, left a single person dead and several others injured in Volusia County on the afternoon of Saturday, April 26th. Reports from the Florida Highway Patrol stated that the motorcycle accident, which occurred at close to 4:20 in the afternoon, happened along State Road 415, close to where this road intersects with Reed Ellis Road. At this time, a 71-year-old New Smyrna Beach resident was riding their motorcycle down the northern lanes of State Road 415.
Robbery Leads to High-Speed Chase, Crash, and Two Hospitalizations in Sumter County
An armed robbery and a high speed chase resulted in a crash and multiple arrests within Sumter County on Saturday, April 27th. According to preliminary reports from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, the events leading to the incident were first reported sometime during the early morning of Saturday after a Burger King located along the 3600 block of Wedgewood Lane inside of The Villages was robbed by at least two individuals. It was not until later that afternoon that an officer driving a marked Sheriff’s Office patrol car located the vehicle believed to have been used by the people involved with the robbery.
UPDATE: Frequent Accidents at Intersection Where Ten-Year-Old Child was Killed
After the devastating fatal bicycle accident that happened on Wednesday, April 24th, and left a ten-year-old dead after being struck by a semi at the intersection of Landstar Boulevard and Wetherbee Road, the Florida Highway Patrol investigated the area to determine whether or not it was the intersection itself that was the problem. Their preliminary investigation – only the result of several days of work, at the time of this writing – suggests that, far from being an isolated incident, this incident was only one of close to 25 separate crashes that have occurred at the same intersection between 2017 and now.
Suspect Arrested After Crashing Into Numerous Cars in Daytona Beach Shores
An individual who was wanted on charges of armed burglary as well as larceny and other things was arrested on the morning of Friday, April 26th, after crashing into numerous cars parked in a Winn-Dixie parking lot. According to the reports from the Daytona Beach Shores Public Safety Department, the incident took place after officers working within Daytona Beach Shores received reports that the above-mentioned individual was spotted at the Winn-Dixie. Shortly after the reports were received, officers in unmarked cars reached the area. Among them were a police sergeant’s unmarked patrol vehicle and a detective’s unmarked car.
Teenager Dies in Crash Along S.R. 417 in Orange County
A teenager who was visiting Florida from New York died on Thursday night after a car crash that took place between two cars along State Road 417 in Orange County. Reports from the Florida Highway Patrol indicated that the collision happened sometime during the night, and it appears that the driver of a 2007 Nissan Maxima lost control of their vehicle while traveling along the southern lanes of State Road 417.
Ten-Year-Old Struck and Killed by Semi-Truck in Orlando
A ten-year-old child was killed on Wednesday, April 24th, after being struck by a semi-truck while riding a bicycle home from Wetherbee Elementary School in Orlando. At the time of this writing, the truck and the driver involved have not been located or identified.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission has opened an investigation into a fatal boating accident that occurred this Easter weekend just off the coast of Miami Beach, involving a dangerous jetty that has caused previous deadly collisions.
