Teenager Dies in Crash Along S.R. 417 in Orange County

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on April 27, 2019

A teenager who was visiting Florida from New York died on Thursday night after a car crash that took place between two cars along State Road 417 in Orange County. Reports from the Florida Highway Patrol indicated that the collision happened sometime during the night, and it appears that the driver of a 2007 Nissan Maxima lost control of their vehicle while traveling along the southern lanes of State Road 417.

While the incident still remains under investigation, the reports so far released by the Florida Highway Patrol in Orange County stated that the a 47-year-old individual from New York was driving their car, a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica, down the southern lanes of State Road 417 when the 2007 Maxima’s driver crashed into them after either attempting to change lanes or losing control of their car. Once the two vehicles struck one another, neither of the drivers were able to retain control over their vehicles and both cars wound up crashing into and over a guardrail located along this particular stretch of the roadway.

The 14-year-old, a passenger inside of the Pacifica, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. They were thrown through the windshield of the Pacifica. As a result of the injuries that this person sustained in the accident, they were declared dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the Maxima and the driver of the Pacifica were both injured in the crash, but it is not believed that either of the injuries these two individuals sustained were life-threatening.

When police and EMTs arrived at the scene, they found that one of the cars was still dangling over the guardrail located along the shoulder of State Road 417. This fact alone attests to the severity of the collision and the force with which the two cars shot off of the road and over the guardrail.

Officers with the Florida Highway Patrol have indicated that, while the incident remains under investigation, the driver of the Maxima is facing numerous charges as a result of the crash.
