Child Survives Fall from 3rd Story Hotel Room in Orange County
A family staying inside of Orange County received a tremendous shock on the afternoon of Thursday, August 1st, after their 8-year-old child fell out of a window located on the hotel’s third floor. According to reports from the Orange County Fire Rescue team that responded to the incident, the family in question was staying at the Extended Stay Hotel along Palm Parkway. It is believed that the family of the child are from the UK and have been visiting the Orange County area for a few weeks. It is not known how many other people are in the family.
Orange County SunRail Train Collides with Ford Trapped on Tracks
It was shortly after 9:00 on the night of Friday, August 2nd, that an individual was driving a 2019 Ford along Orange Avenue, close to the intersection of this road with Oak Ridge Road. This area, as many readers may be aware, is also close to to a SunRail line, and at a certain point the tracks even cross over the street. Because of this, there are the requisite crossing signs and signals which greatly aid in the prevention of incidents between the trains and pedestrians and/or cars, but at times there are incidents that render these signs and signals obsolete or useless.
Malfunctioning Bike Chain Leads to Cyclist Being Fatally Struck by Car
At the very end of July, an accident was reported in Daytona Beach involving an individual on a bicycle and a car. As is often the case in such incidents, the cyclist died as a result of the crash. Reports from the Daytona Beach Police Department stated the cyclist, who was later identified as a 37-year-old, was on a bicycle and riding it along International Speedway Boulevard at close to 3:00 in the afternoon. It is believed that the cyclist was riding in one of the speedway’s outside lanes.
UPDATE: Search Continues for Driver Behind Fatal Early July Hit-and-Run
We reported earlier in July on a fatal hit-and-run crash that took place within Orlando after three pedestrians were hit by a single car. This accident happened after another pedestrian was struck and killed close to Orange Blossom Trail and 41st Street. As mentioned in the earlier post, the three pedestrians had been traveling in a car down the roadway when they saw the first collision take place. Rather than continue driving, the driver of this car stopped on the shoulder and the three people exited the vehicle and began to cross the road in an attempt to help the other fatally injured person.
Two Girls Seriously Injured in Marion County ATV Accident
It was early into the evening this past Wednesday, August 7th, when two 7-year-old girls sustained serious injuries after the all-terrain vehicle they were driving was struck by another vehicle just outside of Dunnellton in Chatmire.
Father and Child Narrowly Escape Orlando House Fire
A lightning strike is believed to be behind a destructive house fire that consumed a home in Orange County on either Sunday, July 28th, or Monday, July 29th. What we know so far is that the incident took place during a large storm that moved through the area over the end of the weekend. This storm included powerful bolts of lightning that were blasting from the clouds down to the ground.
Flat Iron Causes Fire and Prompts Evacuation at Orlando Hotel
A flat iron used for straightening hair is being blamed for a fire that broke out inside of popular hotel close to SeaWorld Orlando and resulted in around 1,000 people being evacuated from the building. According to reports from the Orange County Fire Rescue team who responded to the emergency call that came from the building, the fire broke out on Thursday, July 24th. Early news reports failed to state at what time the fire broke out, and it is not clear if it was during the day, when many of the guests would have been elsewhere, or at night, when the occupants of the rooms would have been settling in for bed.
T-Bone Crash Near Tampa Results in Fatality and Injuries
On Thursday, July 28th, a couple from Riverview were inside a 2012 Nissan Maxima that was traveling down Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street when this car became involved in a side-impact collision. Reports from the St. Petersburg Police indicated that it was sometime close to 5:30 in the evening, during the rush hour traffic that can often become quite intense in this area. It is believed that the two people inside of the Nissan were a married couple. Behind the wheel was a 44-year-old man and in the passenger seat was a 59-year-old woman.
Two Trauma Alert Victims after Two Car Crash in Orange County
A collision that took place on Saturday, July 27th, resulted in the hospitalization of two individuals, both of who were declared to be trauma alerts when they were admitted to an Orange County emergency medical facility. Early responders to the incident included the Orange County Fire Rescue. The report that this organization issued after the crash was widely distributed throughout local news agencies and included the information that the collision involved two cars and an unknown number of people.
Royal Caribbean Faces Potential Lawsuit After Fatal Falling Accident
Royal Caribbean International has found itself in trouble once again after an 18-month-old lost her life aboard one of their luxury liners on July 7th after falling eleven stories through an open window to the deck below. The parents of the toddler, Alan and Kimberly Wiegand have subsequently filed a lawsuit against cruise ship giant, opening blaming the company for their daughter’s death.
