Child Survives Fall from 3rd Story Hotel Room in Orange County

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on August 10, 2019

A family staying inside of Orange County received a tremendous shock on the afternoon of Thursday, August 1st, after their 8-year-old child fell out of a window located on the hotel’s third floor. According to reports from the Orange County Fire Rescue team that responded to the incident, the family in question was staying at the Extended Stay Hotel along Palm Parkway. It is believed that the family of the child are from the UK and have been visiting the Orange County area for a few weeks. It is not known how many other people are in the family.

The room in which the 8-year-old was staying overlooked the area where the hotel’s pool is located. It is not known if the window had a screen or any sort of safety measures to help prevent the incident that wound up occurring, and it is also not known if the child was properly supervised or aware of the dangers of being close to the window at such a height.

According to the Orange County Fire Rescue, any fall that is longer than 10 feet is something that the paramedics automatically assume will come with some severe injuries to the fall victim. In the case that took place at the Extended Stay Hotel, it was something of a miracle that the 8-year-old seemed almost completely well except for a minor injury to their leg. According to the Fire Rescue officials who issued the initial reports, the child was responsive and talking when the paramedics reached the area. It is likely that the abundance of bushes and trees that lay underneath the child’s window aided significantly in reducing the severity of the injuries the young person sustained when they toppled from the third floor of the building.

It is believed that only one person was involved in the incident. It is not known if any charges are currently pending against either the hotel or the child’s family in the case, although the Orange County Sheriff’s Office did respond to the emergency call and assisted in conducting the initial investigation into the incident.
