A woman decided to take a nap after causing a serious accident on Interstate 75 in Weston, Florida. She was awoken by law enforcement officials and faces serious charges after injuring an individual, according to media reports and law officials.
Florida SUV Rollover Accident on State Road 40
Near where State Road 40 and State Road 11 meet in Florida, an automobile accident occurred in the afternoon of Tuesday, November 26, 2014. The accident occurred when an SUV carrying the 27-year-old Jamie Desmarais and the 23-year-old Jessica Marcus, both Pierson residents, was struck by a pickup truck driven by the 66-year-old James Hanis, a resident of Seville, overturning both vehicles.
Orlando Judge Rules that KinderCare Crash Jury Won’t Hear Previous Drug Charges
A judge has ruled that the jury set to hear the case of Robert Corchado, the man accused of causing the KinderCare Crash last April that resulted in the death of a 4-year-old girl, will not hear arguments from prosecutors related to a previous crash involving illegal drugs. On April 9, 2014 an SUV driven by Corchado rear-ended a Toyota Solara, which caused the driver of the Toyota to lose control and crash into the KinderCare Center on Goldenrod Road. Corchado then fled the scene and attempted to ditch the vehicle at a home nearby, leaving behind several packages of illegal drugs in the vehicle, including marijuana, heroin and cocaine.
Homeless Man Killed in Miami Hit and Run
A homeless man was struck and killed in Miami’s Little Havana district early Saturday morning, according to authorities. The victim’s name was Victoriano Fernandez and he was known to others among the community. Fernandez was attempting to cross Northwest Seventh Street with his walker when he was struck by a silver Mazda. Fernandez was air lifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital where he died from his injuries a short time later.
Drag Racing May Have Been a Factor in West Delray Crash
Two men who stand charged with vehicular homicide and manslaughter in the 2013 death of Fran Abel, may have been drag racing at the time of the crash, investigators say. A judge will meet with attorneys from both side of the case on January 14th to set trial dates for the two men, Amir Talebzedah and Gregory Comon. The men were allegedly travelling at speeds in excess of 100 mph on Jog Road prior to slamming into Mrs. Abel’s Audi as she attempted to make a left turn.
St. Augustine Pedestrian Injured in Accident
Between 9:30 and 10:00 PM on November 24th, 2014, an automobile accident occurred in St. Augustine between a man on foot and two cars. The incident, which took place where U.S. Highway 1 and Shores Boulevard intersect, occurred when the pedestrian, who has been identified as the 19-year-old St. Augustine resident Matthew Chrest, began crossing over Shores Boulevard from the eastern side, through the intersection, and apparently did not notice the traffic bearing down upon him from the road.

The annual Thanksgiving Celebration in a Winter Garden neighborhood is a tradition for hundreds of Orlando area residents. But this year’s celebration ended in chaos, after someone opened fire when police officers arrived to investigate a possible pedestrian accident around 1 a.m. Friday.
Florida Officer Injured By Minivan in Clearwater Accident
On November 24, 2014, a police officer in Clearwater, FL was hit by a white minivan while directing traffic at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Druid Road. The officer, who has yet to be named, was working on her day off in order to help the Salvation Army with the first day of their Thanksgiving turkey giveaway. When the incident occurred, there was a high volume of traffic stretching down Highland Avenue as people waited to pick up their free turkey.
Florida Skateboarder Struck and Killed Friday Night
A man on his skateboard was struck and killed late Friday night while riding down Clubhouse Road in Lakeland, according to Polk County police. Scott Michael Sherman, of Lakeland, was hit by Terrance Rashon Green, also of Lakeland, near Harrell’s Nursery Road. Green stopped and tried to aid Sherman after he hit him, but Sherman was pronounced dead at the scene. A review of the area by investigators reveals that Green was not speeding at the time and that visibility was low due to a lack of street lights in the area. Polk County authorities have indicated that the investigation is ongoing and it may be some time while they sort out the situation.
Florida Man Sentenced to 16 Years for DUI Death
An Ormond Beach man, Louis Prinzo, was sentenced to 16 years on Tuesday for various charges related to a 2012 DUI crash that killed two teenagers. Prinzo was high on oxycodone, marijuana and alprazolam when he turned in front of two oncoming vehicles on July 26. 2012. Subsequently, investigators found that Mr. Prinzo did not have a prescription for the medications and had obtained them illegally. He was booked for DUI and released on bond awaiting trial back in 2012.
