Tran Family Files Lawsuit Against Honda
The family of Hein Tran, the driver injured when her airbag deployed in a crash in late September, has filed a lawsuit against auto manufacturer Honda in connection with her death in early October. The lawsuit is the first of its kind in that it links a faulty airbag directly to the death of a vehicle occupant.
Careless Driving on Tampa’s Selmon Expressway Causes Lane Closures
Morning commuters heading east along Tampa’s Selmon Expressway were delayed on November 15th by an automobile accident that occurred around 8:00 a.m. A driver in a Chevy pickup truck was pulling a loaded trailer of wood and other debris at the intersection of Florida Avenue and the Selmon Expressway when he lost control of the vehicle. Witnesses say that the car began to swerve uncontrollably, and this caused the trailer to overturn, spilling its messy load over the entirety of the road and causing traffic to grind to a complete halt.
Brevard County Man Sentenced Today for Road Rage Killing
William Sherwood, the Brevard County man convicted on Wednesday Nov. 12th of a road rage killing in 2013, will be sentenced soon for his actions. According to Brevard County court documents, Sherwood rear-ended an SUV driven by John Pratt after Pratt cut him off in traffic in March of 2013. When Pratt approached the vehicle, Sherwood shot Pratt twice. Sherwood had claimed self-defense because Pratt reached into the vehicle and punched him in the face and wrenched his neck. The jury took just nine hours to determine that Sherwood was guilty of second-degree murder.
Hit and Run Suspect’s Traffic Records Reveal Several Incidents
The driver of the vehicle that fatally injured an Orlando bicyclist early Sunday evening has more than 20 traffic violations over the past few years according to court records. Adriana Velasquez is accused of striking and killing Steven Michael Williams II with her SUV while he was riding his bike on the street next to the curb. Velasquez is also charged with leaving the scene of an accident. Eye witnesses told police that Ms. Velasquez sped off after striking Williams, who was injured and on the side of the road.
Fatal High-Speed Accident in Orlando
On November 12th, in Orlando, there was a high-speed accident on Orange County’s Pine Hills Road. While traveling northbound, Ashley Roberts, a 20-year-old Orlando resident, somehow lost control of her 2006 Toyota and began to swerve in and out of the southbound lanes. Witnesses say that in the moments before the head-on collision with a 1998 Honda driven by 26-year-old Tamiko Grant, Roberts appeared completely unable to navigate her vehicle. The impact caused by the two cars coming together was so violent that both of their rear ends lifted off the ground and objects came flying out of one of the trunks.

On Saturday, October 25, a woman rammed her car into the DCI Biological facility in Jacksonville, Florida. The woman was upset that DCI would not accept her as a client to donate blood plasma, and a short time later, returned in her vehicle and crashed into the building.

Faulty Airbag Possible Cause of Orlando Woman’s Death
The US Government agency recently issued a recall of airbags that now affects over 8 million cars in the United States. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has warned of faulty airbags manufactured by Takata. The airbags can injure or kill the driver or passenger when it deploys during an accident. On Sept 29, an Orlando woman may have been the victim of one of these recalled airbags.
Search Continues for Hit and Run Driver in Orlando
Florida Highway Patrol troopers are on the lookout for a white Toyota Camry, which they say was involved in a hit-and-run incident early Thursday morning, October 23, 2014. Witnesses did not have a description of the driver of the vehicle, but said it was traveling at a high rate of speed. The incident happened in an Aldi parking lot on Colonial Drive, where the speed limit is five to ten miles per hour.
