Pedestrian Killed Near Tampa After Being Struck by Three Cars
Three different drivers were involved in a collision with a pedestrian that took place close to Tampa in Hillsborough County early in January. Reports from the Florida Highway Patrol stated that the individual who was struck by the vehicles, a man from Seffner, was attempting to cross State Road 574 at close to 6:30 p.m. on January 4th.
Three Injured in an Orange County Collision Involving Tanker Truck
Three people, including a toddler, were injured on Friday, January 4th, after the car in which they were traveling drove underneath a large semi-truck hauling a tank. Reports from the Orange County Fire Rescue indicate that the incident took place at close to 6:20 in the evening and that the vehicles involved were traveling along either East Colonial Drive and or Gloucester Street. It is not known if the accident happened at the intersection of these two streets or if the collision happened along one street with the other being affected due to the proximity of the accident to the intersection.
Boat Crash in Melbourne Results in Injury
A boating accident that happened on Melbourne’s Lake Washington on Sunday, January 6th, resulted in one individual suffering from a leg injury. Reports from Florida Today indicate that it was sometime around 2:30 in the afternoon when the incident took place. The precise location of the incident is not currently clear, although the news report did state that the 6000 block of Lake Washington Road was perhaps a place of interest as was the boat ramp leading from this road to the lake itself.
Orlando Collision Between Car and Train Sends One to Hospital
An incident that took place in Orlando on Thursday, January 3rd, resulted in the hospitalization of one individual after their car was struck by a train traveling along a track owned and operated by the Florida Central Railroad. Reports from numerous agencies involved with the incident have emerged in the days following the crash, but a certain amount of confusion remains and the investigations into the incident are ongoing.
Five Children Among Seven Dead in Massive Gainesville Crash
The deadliest accident on I-75 since 2012 occurred on Thursday, January 3rd, when a passenger van, a sedan, and two tractor-trailers were involved in a massive car crash that resulted in the deaths of seven people, five of whom were children. According to the initial reports emerging around this incident, it happened close to 3:00 in the afternoon along a southbound stretch of I-75 that lies a mile or so south of Alachua.
Single Car Crash Near Tampa on NYE Leaves One Dead
An auto accident near Tampa that took place on December 31st resulted in the death of one individual from Spring hill. It is not believed that anyone else was injured in the incident or that any other vehicles were involved in the single-car crash. At the time of this writing, an investigation into the accident is still underway, and the hope is that through the work of the Florida Highway Patrol the reasons for the crash will be understood.
Driver Suffers Injuries after Being Run off Road near Tampa
A woman from Seffner experienced a tremendous shock early in the morning of January 1st after her car crashed into a ditch filled with water located off of Interstate 4 in Hillsborough County. According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident was first reported just before 4:00 in the morning when the driver of a 2008 Toyota Scion called in a panic from within her vehicle as water from the ditch began to fill the car.
Orlando Car Crash Injures Four, Including Three Firefighters
A collision that happened in Orlando on Thursday night resulted in both the closure of a large part of the interstate as well as the injury of three firefighters whose truck was one of the vehicles involved. Reports from the Orlando Police Department are somewhat foggy on the precise course of events that led to the incident, but we do know that the team of firefighters was on the road in response to a reported minor collision that took place along the eastern lanes of 408. It is believed that at the time of the collision the fire truck had reached the location of the primary crash and that several firefighters were standing outside of the vehicle. It is also not clear if any injuries were reported in the primary crash.
Two People Killed in Fatal Florida Turnpike Auto Accident
A two-car crash that took place along an Orange County stretch of the Florida Turnpike on Friday, December 21st, left one person dead and two people, including one young child, injured. The current reports from the Florida Highway Patrol indicate that the incident took place within the southern lanes of the Florida Turnpike, close to the 258th mile marker. This location is also quite near to Walt Disney World. Finally, it is believed that the accident happened at close to 12:35 in the afternoon.
Family Sues Universal Orlando Resort over Death of Family Member
Universal Orlando Resort is currently facing a wrongful death lawsuit filed by individuals from Guatemala that claims the lack of proper signage at the resort directly led to the death of a member of their family. While much of the details pertaining to the incident itself are not clear, we do know that the incident in question happened two years ago.
