Three Injured in an Orange County Collision Involving Tanker Truck
Three people, including a toddler, were injured on Friday, January 4th, after the car in which they were traveling drove underneath a large semi-truck hauling a tank. Reports from the Orange County Fire Rescue indicate that the incident took place at close to 6:20 in the evening and that the vehicles involved were traveling along either East Colonial Drive and or Gloucester Street. It is not known if the accident happened at the intersection of these two streets or if the collision happened along one street with the other being affected due to the proximity of the accident to the intersection.
We do not currently possess any information regarding the exact cause or causes of the incident, but it seems that it involved one tanker truck and one car. The make and model of the car were not included in the initial report, and it was also not known just how many people were inside of the vehicle when it crashed.
It is possible that one or both of the driver’s involved lost control of their vehicles, but the final result of whatever occurred was that the car passed underneath the tanker truck. It is not clear how much clearance there was between the bottom of the truck and the road, and, because we don’t know what sort of car was being driven, we also are unclear on how high off of the ground the car’s roof stood.
We do know that the pass was not clean, and that three people within the car were injured as a result of the collision. Of these people, two were adults. Both were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, and one was admitted as being a trauma alert patient. The third injured person, a toddler, was rushed from the location to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. They were also admitted as being a trauma alert.
The driver of the tanker truck was not injured in the crash and remained at the crash site while an initial investigation was conducted.
At the time of this writing, none of the conditions of the people taken to the hospital is known. It is also not known if any charges are currently pending against either of the drivers.
