24-Year-Old Kissimmee Woman Killed During a Rollover Crash Along Interstate 4
Detectives with the Orlando Police Department as well as troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol are currently working to determine the cause of an auto accident that claimed the life of a 24-year-old Kissimmee woman early Saturday morning on Interstate 4 in Orange County.
According to preliminary incident reports from the responding officers with two local law enforcement agencies, it was approximately 3:20 a.m. on February 19, 2022, when a 24-year-old female from Kissimmee and her 19-year-old passenger were driving in the westbound direction of I-4 near the Central Florida Parkway exit in Orange County. For reasons that are unknown at this time, the 24-year-old driver lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a set of safety guardrails along the side of the road. The force of impact from the collision caused the woman’s car to overturn and subsequently eject both occupants onto the eastern side of the interstate.
Authorities with the Florida Highway Patrol indicated that the other oncoming vehicles were unable to successfully avoid a collision with the young driver and she was struck by at least two other motorists.
Shortly after a series of 9-1-1 calls to local dispatchers, emergency responders with the Orlando Police Department and the Florida Highway Patrol arrived at the scene of the deadly accident. Sadly, the 24-year-old Kissimmee woman had sustained severe injuries during the collision and had already passed away before EMTs could employ life-saving procedures. The 19-year-old female passenger was immediately transported to Orlando Health medical center with serious injuries. Further information regarding her condition has yet to be released to the public, although FHP officials have stated that neither woman was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
No charges have been filed against the other drivers involved in this fatal collision, although that could certainly change once the investigation into the case reaches its conclusion.
