One Person Killed During Three-Car Crash in Osceola County
An early morning multi-vehicle collision on Pleasant Hill Road in Osceola County claimed the life of one individual and seriously injured several others, according to preliminary investigations by the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol working within Osceola County indicate that it was shortly before 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, when a 21-year-old man from Orlando was behind the wheel of a 2015 BMW X1 driving in the southbound direction of Pleasant Hill Road. As the driver approached the upcoming intersection with John Young Parkway, something caused the man to swerve into the oncoming northbound traffic and into the direct path of a 56-year-old Kissimmee man driving a 2006 Chevrolet Aveo. The two men were unable to avoid a collision and the BMW slammed into the Aveo head-on.
After the first auto accident occurred, the BMW then crashed into a 30-year-old Orlando man and a 21-year-old Orlando woman in a 2019 Toyota Camry who were also travelling in the northbound lane. The impact from this secondary collision caused the BMW to roll over in the street.
Emergency medical teams from around Osceola County and authorities with the Florida Highway Patrol were dispatched to the scene of the three-vehicle accident. Despite their best medical efforts upon their arrival, first responders were unable to save the severely-injured 56-year-old Kissimmee man and he died at the hospital.
The 21-year-old driver of the BMW was also taken to a local hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries.
The 21-year-old passenger and the 30-year-old driver of the Toyota Camry both sustained minor injuries, although it is unclear if they received further assistance.
Travel in this area was impacted for several hours, but has since reopened to the public.
No further information is available at this time. This case remains under investigation by officials with the Florida Highway Patrol.
