A recent trucking accident in Osceola County has claimed the lives of two Orlando men, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report. The victims, ages 23 and 32, died from injuries suffered when their passenger vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer on U.S. 192. A third passenger in the car, a 20-year-old Windermere man, and remains listed in critical condition in an area hospital with undisclosed injuries. Troopers report that The 23-year-old victim was driving a 2003 Ford sedan north on Alligator Lake Shore West around 2 a.m. when he attempted to cross the eastbound lanes of U.S. 192 and collided with a semi driven by 47-year-old Orlando man.
Trucking Accident Snarls Traffic on I-95 for Hours
Motorists on Interstate 95 were stuck in traffic for a few hours recently when a tractor-trailer flipped onto its side and a passenger car overturned near LPGA Boulevard in Volusia County. Florida Highway Patrol troopers say that the accident occurred around 11:20 a.m. just south of the LPGA Boulevard exit in the northbound lanes of I-95. Although investigators have released few details about the accident, they say that the truck may have swerved to avoid striking something in the roadway and that the passenger car overturned while attempting to avoid striking the truck.
Mount Dora Man Killed in Trucking Accident
A 41-year-old Mount Dora man killed in a recent trucking accident was a physician known for his exceptional warmth and skill putting patients at ease. According to police investigators, the man was killed on a busy stretch of U.S, Highway 441 in Leesburg around 6:38 in the evening. Police say that the man was driving his Hummer H3 southbound on U.S. 441 when he crashed into a tractor-trailer driven by 53-year-old Wisconsin man. Investigators report that the truck driver pulled out of the Family Furniture Galleries lot and into the path of oncoming southbound traffic on the highway, cutting off the victim and giving him little time to react.
Mans who Lost Leg in Trucking Accident Awarded $7.1 Million by Osceola County Jury
An Osceola County jury recently awarded $7.1 million to a man who lost a leg in an auto accident and incurred $2.5 million in medical expenses. The accident occurred around 4:50 a.m. on March 6, 2012 south of Lake Wales in Polk County when a southbound tractor-trailer crossed the median on U.S. Highway 27 and struck a Northbound 2003 Ford Expedition driven by the victim. The jury found that the truck driver and his employer, Peninsula Logistics of Sorrento, 100 percent responsible for causing the accident. The jury awarded the man $498,000 for lost earnings and $4.1 million for pain and suffering. The man’s wife received $250,000 for loss of her husband’s "comfort, society and attention."
Six-Year-Old Girl Dies From Injuries in Trucking Accident
A six-year-old St. Petersburg girl who was trapped underwater in a ditch in her family’s minivan has died from her injuries according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP). FHP troopers say that the girl and her family were traveling in her family’s Toyota minivan when it was struck from behind by a tractor-trailer in rural Osceola County. They report that the family’s van was making a left turn into a driveway when they were struck by the semi. Troopers say that the 29-year-old driver of the truck swerved into oncoming traffic to avoid colliding with the minivan but was unable to avoid the collision. The impact caused the minivan to roll onto its roof, and it came to rest upside-down in the water-filled ditch, trapping the family inside.
One Killed in Fatal Trucking Accident on State Road 50
A grisly trucking accident on State Road 50 in Orlando killed one person and critically injured another after the car they were traveling in slid under and became pinned by a tractor-trailer. Florida Highway Patrol accident investigators have released few details about the accident but acknowledge that the accident occurred on Colonial Drive at Mercy Drive around 6 a.m. on April 29. The accident closed the westbound lanes of SR 50 for several hours while investigators examined the scene and workers cleared debris from the roadway. Orlando police reopened the westbound lanes of SR 50 at 1 p.m.
Driver Charged With Careless Driving After Trucking Accident
A 45-year-old DeFuniak Springs man is facing careless driving charges after causing a Florida truck accident on U.S. Highway 90 recently. Florida Highway Patrol officers investigating the accident say that the driver was driving his tractor-trailer westbound on U.S. 90 when he rear-ended a Chevrolet Silverado around 12:38 p.m. The impact caused the semi to roll over and slide on its passenger side across the busy highway, completely blocking the eastbound lanes and partially blocking the westbound lanes.
Three Vehicle Trucking Accident in Ocala Sends One Person to Hospital
Ocala.com reports that a three vehicle trucking accident on Interstate 75 early on the morning of December 1, 2009, sent one person to a local hospital with injuries described as non-life threatening. Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol said that one of the vehicles involved in the accident was a semi truck loaded with 150 Christmas trees. When the article was published, troopers were not yet certain about the cause of the auto accident, but they believe that the accident began when a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck broke down in the right lane of I-75.
Trucking Accident Causes Local Evacuation
A recent article describes a trucking accident that led to the evacuation of nearby homes and businesses in Santa Rosa. The tanker truck was carrying anhydrous ammonia on the morning of September 16, 2009 on Avalon Blvd. near the I10 Intersection with exit 22. As the driver attempted to turn north off I10 onto exit 22, the driver lost control of the semi. It overturned on the shoulder of Avalon Boulevard. Homes and businesses within half a mile of the crash were evacuated by emergency response personnel.
