10 Injured in Orange County Crash
A crash on Saturday afternoon, March 17th, in Orange County led to the hospitalization of almost a dozen people after numerous cars collided at the intersection of Silver Star Road and North Powers Drive. The accident was reported by a person who was not identified or described in the initial report, but their 9-1-1 call resulted in numerous emergency response personnel, including members of the Orange County Fire Rescue team, arriving to help those involved in the actual crash.
Sleepy Driver Causes Orlando Car Accident
A driver who fell asleep at the wheel was the cause of a fatal Orlando car accident on Sunday. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the accident happened on Interstate 4 near mile marker 98 in Seminole County.
Child Killed While Crossing the Street in Orlando
An eight-year-old girl was killed Sunday when she was hit while crossing Silver Star Road and Dardanelle Drive in Orlando. According to Orlando Police, a 19-year-old female driver was traveling on Silver Star Road when the front of her car hit the girl, who was crossing the street. The police report does note that the victim was not crossing at a dedicated crosswalk. The girl was transported to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, where she was pronounced dead. Police say the accident remains under investigation.
Orange County Family Displaced by Violent Fire
A family in Orange County barely escaped with their lives from a ferocious fire that consumed their home and damaged two other homes nearby on Wednesday, March 14th. It is not clear if the fire happened during the night or at some point during the day, but we do know that the flames were first noticed by one of the family’s neighbors. According to this individual, he noticed that flames were beginning to burst from the home’s windows and that the roof of the house was shrouded in thick billows of smoke that were starting to escape from the eaves.
Pedestrian Bridge Collapses in Miami, Several Dead
People throughout Miami-Dade County are understandably shaken after the collapse of a pedestrian bridge this past Thursday. The bridge, which was erected less than a week ago on Saturday (March 10th), was a $14.2m project of the US Department of Transportation and was built to create a pathway from Florida International University in Miami to Sweetwater, a city that lies on the other side of 8th Street.
Road Ranger Injured in Orange County Accident
A series of car crashes along an Orange County stretch of State Road 417 last Tuesday morning resulted in numerous injuries, the worst of which was suffered by a Road Ranger who was hit by a car while helping the victims of two other collisions. The report, which came from the Florida Highway Patrol, indicated that the ordeal began around 9:00 in the morning with an accident between at least two cars that were traveling in the southern lanes of State Road 417.
Driver Crashes into Orlando Retention Pond
This past Sunday, at some point during the afternoon, an elderly man was attempting to navigate the parking lot for the Advanced Auto Parts located on Lake Underhill Road in Orlando when he somehow lost control of his vehicle. One of the crash’s witnesses, a woman who is employed at an animal hospital located near to the Advanced Auto Parts, told the Orlando Police Department that she saw the incident occur and was ultimately able to rush to the assistance of the car’s driver after he became trapped inside their vehicle as it sank into a nearby pond.
I-4 Ultimate Worker Killed after Rebar Cage Collapses in Orlando
An employee with Shelby Erectors was working on the I-4 Ultimate project, near to a cap cage on Thursday, March 8th, when something happened to cause the cage to collapse on top of the man. Cap cages are structures made entirely out of rebar that are used as frames onto which wood is attached, creating a mould where concrete is then poured. The one that collapsed this past Thursday was located on an on-ramp leading to the westbound lanes of South Street, close to the Amway Center.
Two Firefighters Injured in Orlando Apartment Fire
On Wednesday, the 7th of March, firefighters with the Orange County Fire and Rescue department responded to early morning reports of an apartment fire in Orlando. The call came in at close to 2:30 in the morning, and indicated that a fire was in progress at Twelve Oaks at Windermere, an apartment complex located close to Conroy Road and Kirkman Road.
T-Bone Crash in Orlando Leaves One Dead, Two Injured
A Saturday Night crash in Orlando on the 3rd of March left one person dead and several others in the hospital after a T-bone crash at the intersection of Wetherbee Road and Bohannon Boulevard. The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the emergency calls reporting the crash and were some of the first official units on the scene.
