Orange County Family Displaced by Violent Fire
A family in Orange County barely escaped with their lives from a ferocious fire that consumed their home and damaged two other homes nearby on Wednesday, March 14th. It is not clear if the fire happened during the night or at some point during the day, but we do know that the flames were first noticed by one of the family’s neighbors. According to this individual, he noticed that flames were beginning to burst from the home’s windows and that the roof of the house was shrouded in thick billows of smoke that were starting to escape from the eaves.
Pit Bull Attacks Child in Orange County
On Wednesday, June 1st, a girl in Orange County was viciously attacked by a pit bull inside of a private residence on Triple Crown Road around 2 p.m. According to the report issued by the Orange County Fire Rescue, the girl, who is nine years old, was rushed immediately to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children where she received medical treatment for the numerous and serious facial wounds that she suffered from the dog.
Boy Killed in Orlando Bicycle Accident Involving Tractor-Trailer
A boy riding his bike on the way to school was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer in the Orlando area’s most recent fatal bicycle accident. Witnesses report that the six-year-old was on his way to Meadow Woods Elementary School with his older brother and two friends about 8:10 a.m. when he was struck by a semi-truck hauling wooden roofing materials that was exiting State Road 417. Florida Highway Patrol troopers say that the driver is a 47-year-old Winter Haven man, who told them that he never saw the boy. He told them that he had stopped his rig just past a yield sign after making a right turn onto Landstar Blvd. because he “felt a bump.”
Five People Injured in Florida Head-On Auto Collision
Florida Highway Patrol troopers say that a recent head-on collision in west Orange County sent five people to area hospitals for treatment for undisclosed injuries. Troopers say that the collision occurred around 9:25 a.m. as one of the drivers, a 58-year-old woman driving a 2013 Hyundai south on Powers Drive, suddenly crossed over the center line near the intersection with Balboa Drive. Troopers report that she drove directly into the path of another Hyundai driven by a 27-year-old woman with three passengers in her car, one of which was a 15-year-old boy.
