10 Injured in Orange County Crash
A crash on Saturday afternoon, March 17th, in Orange County led to the hospitalization of almost a dozen people after numerous cars collided at the intersection of Silver Star Road and North Powers Drive. The accident was reported by a person who was not identified or described in the initial report, but their 9-1-1 call resulted in numerous emergency response personnel, including members of the Orange County Fire Rescue team, arriving to help those involved in the actual crash.
The initial report from the Orange County Fire Rescue failed to give much information regarding the incident other than to say that it involved at least 10 people and that three of these people were under the age of 18.
That number indicates only the total individuals who received medical treatment either on-site or at a hospital, meaning that more people were perhaps involved in the crash and either did not need or refused medical treatment. We know that out of the 10, almost all of them were injured badly enough to require transportation to a nearby medical facility, but it is not clear if these individuals were admitted as critical cases or if they were only there as a precaution.
Orange County Fire Rescue Officials have since turned over the official investigation and handling of the crash site to the Florida Highway Patrol who is working in tandem with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office to determine just what led to the crash and the numerous hospitalizations.
Again, the initial report did not provide much information on the incident, a fact which most likely indicates that almost nothing was known about the crash when the first report was released. We do not know the total number or cars (or the total number of individuals involved); we do not know the type of collision that it was (head-on, T-bone, sideswipe, rear-end etc.).
Regardless, for those who were injured in the collision, it is highly probably that they will be facing current medical treatment as well as medical treatment in the future that relates to this incident. Car accidents are often extremely physically traumatic events that leave traces of their presence in those who suffer for many years to come. This means that medical bills can begin to emerge well after the genesis point for whatever ailment or injury they reflect was inflicted.
