Teenager Loses Control of Truck, Dies in Marion County Crash
A crash involving a single car within Marion County has resulted in the death of an individual. According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, members of which responded to the reports of the initial accident and were on hand shortly after the crash to investigate and assist motorists in passing through the area, while paramedics and EMT’s treated the driver of the car. The incident happened very early in the morning, close to 3:00, along a fairly rural stretch of County Road 484.
Melbourne Power Pole Breaks in Single Car Crash
A busy Melbourne road was closed as of early on Monday morning after a collision resulted in an investigation as well as a lengthy cleanup time. Reports from members of the Melbourne Police Department indicated that the car accident took place along Sarno Road, close to the intersection of Sarno and North Apollo Boulevard. Sarno Road, while not a highway, does possess two lanes going in each direction. New Year’s Day Crash Kills Clermont Driver
On the first day of 2020, an individual from Clermont was behind the wheel of a 2005 Toyota Camry, headed south down County Road 455, when they were involved in a crash with a tree. It is not clear if this incident remains under investigation, but we do know that members of the Florida Highway Patrol were among the first responders to the area where the incident took place. Reports from the FHP gave the name of the individual, meaning that the person was likely identified easily and that the family gave permission for the information to be distributed.
Single Car Crash Near Tampa Kills 19-Year-Old
Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol were among the first responders to a Tampa auto accident which took place just before Christmas. The incident, which remains under investigation, involved a 19-year-old inside of a 1995 Ford Mustang. It is not believed that any other individuals or vehicles were involved in the crash.
Satellite Beach Residents Demand Traffic Change Following 12-Year-Old’s Death
Residents in Satellite Beach are attempting to create lasting change within their community following the tragic death of a 12-year-old last week. According to the residents of the area where the incident took place, the intersection where the young person was fatally struck by the car is a known road hazard. This, say the residents, is due to the fact that the lights in the area are not stop lights. Instead, they are flashing yellow lights that merely indicate that drivers should exercise more caution. The common feeling within the neighborhood is that the yellow lights do not do nearly enough when it comes to alerting drivers to the presence of pedestrians.
New Florida Law Makes Texting While Driving a Primary Offense
In the summer of 2019, lawmakers within Florida passed a resolution aimed to reduce the number of accidents, injuries, and fatalities connected to individuals texting while driving. While the law was first put into effect on the 1st of July, 2019, traffic officers and spokespeople for various law enforcement agencies working throughout the state are now letting people know that the preliminary roll-out period for this law has now passed, meaning that the punishments related to texting and driving are about to become more serious.
Toddler Killed in Polk County Hit-and-Run
On the afternoon of December 23rd, a 21-year-old individual was behind the wheel of a Nissan Versa and traveling down the eastern lanes of Interstate 4, close to State Road 550 in Polk County. Inside the car with the 21-year-old were four other individuals, one of whom was the driver’s 3-year-old child.
Three Members of Family Killed in Leesburg Crashes
On Christmas Eve, a family of four was traveling down the western lanes of State Road 44 inside of a 2018 Toyota. At the same time, two individuals were inside of a 2019 black Ram pickup truck and headed down the eastern lanes of this same road. Both of the cars were closing in on Dozier Court in Leesburg at around 8:30 in the evening on the 24th of December.
Multiple Crashes on I-4 in Orange County Blamed on Rain
On the morning of Monday, December 23rd, the Florida Highway Patrol began to respond to numerous reports of collisions along Interstate 4 in Orange County. Initial reports from the scene of these various crashes indicates that the authorities have reason to believe that poor weather, primarily rain, was the cause of the accidents, although all reports failed to indicate just why investigators came to this conclusion.
