Head-On Car Crash in Ormond Beach Kills Local Resident
Although a conclusion is expected within the next few days, authorities in Ormond Beach have been working for nearly a week to determine the cause of a severe auto accident that claimed the life of one individual and seriously injured another last Monday near Old Kings Road.
According to current case reports released to local media outlets, it was shortly after 8:00 p.m. on August 22, 2022, when 42-year-old Ormond Beach resident Geralynn Purvis was driving a black Ford SUV in the northbound direction of Nova Road. As her vehicle neared the 300th block of the street near Old Kings Road, she encountered a 35-year-old individual driving a white Ford pickup truck the wrong way down Nova Road. Neither driver was able to avoid a collision and the two vehicles were involved in a head-on crash.
Officers with the Ormond Beach Police Department as well as several other Volusia County emergency response teams arrived at the scene of the accident and discovered three injured victims: both drivers and a passenger from the sport utility vehicle. Sadly, 42-year-old Geralynn Purvis sustained serious injuries during the collision and passed away at the crash site. Her male passenger was taken as a trauma alert to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach. His current condition is unknown. The wrong-way driver of the Ford pickup truck suffered a head injury during the incident but refused additional medical assistance.
