It was early in the morning of Friday, March 27th, that firefighters and other emergency response crews within Melrose began to receive reports of a house fire in Earleton. When the Melrose firefighters reached the address, they found the situation much as described in the reports. The home, located along Lake Sante Fe on a quiet stretch of County Road 1469, was in the process of being consumed by a violent and rapidly spreading fire.

U.S. 441 Crash Kills Motorcyclist in Orange County
A collision that happened within Orange County during the middle of this month resulted in the death of at least one individual and an ongoing investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. Reports from the authorities indicated that the incident took place close to 2:30 in the afternoon on Tuesday. At this time, a 55-year-old man from Clermont was driving down the northern lanes of U.S. 441 in a Ford van. Simultaneously, a 38-year-old was traveling down the same road’s southern lanes. It is believed that the 38-year-old was riding a motorcycle at the time of the incident, although the make and model of the bike was not included in the initial reports.

The problem of young people drag-racing through residential areas cropped up once again during the earlier days of March after a street race in Collier County turned into a crash investigation site and two teenagers were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries. Reports from the Collier County Sheriff’s Office stated that the incident happened during the weekend of March 6th-8th and involved two cars and an unknown number of passengers.
