Florida Lawmakers Finally Pass Texting Ban for Drivers
In a move applauded by James O. Cunningham and other Orlando distracted driving accident lawyers, Governor Rick Scott is expected to sign a law banning drivers from sending texts later this month. After many false starts and attempts at passing legislation, state lawmakers finally got a bill through committee and onto the governor’s desk. SB 52 isn’t nearly as comprehensive as texting bans in other states are, as drivers will still be able to text while stopped at red lights or otherwise stopped in traffic and violations will be treated as a “secondary” offense. A secondary offense means that in order for drivers to be ticketed for texting while driving, they will first have to be cited for another violation such as speeding, improper lane usage, etc.

They report says that the victim was walking across South Orange Blossom Trail when she was struck for the first time but was not at an intersection or walking in a designated crosswalk at the time of the accident.
Man Drowns in Lake Minnehaha Accident
Orlando personal injury lawyer James O. Cunningham would like to remind boat owners to make sure that they have proper life-saving equipment on board and require guests to wear life jackets while enjoying Florida waterways this busy summer boating season. A recent drowning on Lake Minnehaha illustrates that summer fun on the water can quickly turn to tragedy when proper precautions are not taken.
Two Women Struck and Killed By SUV While Waiting for a Lynx Bus

Police report that the women were waiting for a bus around 10:45 p.m. one recent evening at the bus stop on Silver Star Road near Le Havre Boulevard when they were run over by a 2004 Hyundai driven by a 45-year-old woman, address unknown. Accident investigators say that the driver of the Hyundai was traveling westbound on Silver Star Road when she suddenly swerved and drove into the two victims. Police do not yet know what caused the driver to swerve into and strike the victims.
Amusement Park Accident Claims Require Skill, Resources and Attention to Detail
As one of Central Florida’s most successful and experienced theme park accident attorneys, James O. Cunningham can tell you that there are many facets to proving that a theme park is liable for damages in an accident. Proving these cases and helping clients receive the fair and just compensation they deserve is actually quite difficult, and not many Orlando personal injury lawyers have the legal skills, experience and resources to build an effective case.
New Study Shows Bike Helmets Save Kids’ Lives in Bicycle Accidents
Bicycle accident attorneys have always encouraged parents to insist that their children wear helmets when riding their bikes to protect them when they wipe out or are struck by motorized vehicles. A recent study conducted by the Journal of Pediatrics clearly shows how important helmets are in saving kids lives. The objective of the study was to determine the correlation between bicycle helmet laws and bicycle accident-related deaths sustained by children struck by cars. Florida has a bike helmet law on the books, but parents don’t always enforce it with their kids.
Rise in Insurance Fraud Cases Illustrates Importance of Hiring an Auto Accident Attorney
Despite changes to Florida’s personal-injury-protection (PIP) laws enacted by legislators last year, law enforcement officials across the state are still seeing record numbers of staged auto accidents to defraud insurance companies. A recent high-profile case involving an Orlando chiropractic and wellness center that recruited “drivers” to enlist people to stage car accidents exemplifies the importance of hiring an experienced Orlando personal injury attorney to represent you if you’re injured in an auto accident.
