Reckless Driver Flees After Crashing Car Into Gas Station
Casselberry police have arrested the driver of a car who lost control and crashed into a gas station, starting a potentially deadly fire. They report that the accident occurred around 2 a.m. one recent morning at a Circle K gas station as the driver was speeding down State Road 436 and attempted to make a turn at Howell Branch Road. Police report that the driver lost control of his car while making the turn and crashed into the gas station. Officers say that the quick actions of the gas station attendant prevented a much larger fire, as he assessed the situation and hit the station’s emergency gas shutoff valve.
Police report that the driver attempted to flee from the scene on foot but was quickly apprehended. They have not yet released the name of the man, the make and model of vehicle he was driving at the time of the accident or the charges the man will face in connection with the incident. Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident.
This driver’s negligence and the accident he caused bring up an important point. When we think of injuries, we usually think of the physical injuries that people suffer when reckless drivers lose control of their vehicles and cause accidents. While no one suffered any physical injuries in this accident, the owner of the gas station certainly suffered financial injuries that affected his or her facility and ability to conduct business until the damage is corrected. With the assistance of an experienced Orlando personal injury lawyer, the owner could seek damages against the driver and his or her insurance company for damage to the property, loss of income, the costs of repair and other damages.
