Two in Critical Condition After Early Morning Orlando Crash

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on November 18, 2020

Two people were left in critical condition after a car accident that occurred during the very early morning hours of Wednesday, November 4th within the city of Orlando. According to reports from the Orlando Police Department, the incident took place sometime around 1:30 a.m., close to the 1000 block of South Orange Avenue. This is not a particularly busy time for traffic within this area, and it seems a somewhat surprising occurrence that the two vehicles involved would be traveling near enough to one another for a collision to take place, which is exactly what happened.

Neither of the cars were described in the initial report, but we know that one of them was coming off of a nearby road and was attempting to merge onto South Orange Avenue when it drove into the path of another vehicle that was already traveling along South Orange Avenue. This means that the driver of the first car either failed to see the second car or otherwise believed that they were adequately far enough away from the second car for a collision to not take place.

It is not believed that any witnesses to the accident were available to provide the responding authorities much information about what happened to cause the incident in the first place, but we know that when the officers from the Orlando Police Department arrived with paramedics and EMTs, it appeared as though one of the vehicles had been struck with enough force to cause it to roll over several times. This resulted in the occupants within the car suffering from some fairly severe injuries.

Members of the Orlando Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to pull the two individuals out of the flipped car and transport them to Orlando Regional Medical Center where they were admitted in critical condition. It is not believed that any other individuals were within the car that rolled.

The driver of the second car was also injured in the collision, but their injuries were comparatively minor and were able to be treated at the scene. It is believed that they were alone within their car, and no other injuries were reported.

An investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
