Wrong-Way Car Crash in Orlando Kills 75-Year-Old Driver
Members of the Florida Highway Patrol operating within Orange County are currently working to determine the cause of a deadly head-on collision that claimed the life of a 75-year-old man Wednesday morning on Goldenrod Road.
Although few specific details surrounding the fatal auto accident are unknown at this time, responding troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol have stated that it was approximately 1:05 a.m. on June 15, 2022, when a 75-year-old resident of Orlando was driving a 2013 Toyota Tacoma in the southbound direction of the northbound lane of Goldenrod Road. As he approached the road’s intersection with Sun Vista Way, his truck was involved in a head-on crash with a 2021 Toyota Highlander being driven by a 35-year-old male man from Orlando.
Orange County emergency response teams and officers with the Florida Highway Patrol arrived at the scene of the accident shortly after the first set of 9-1-1 calls were received by local dispatchers. The 75-year-old driver of the Tacoma was immediately transported to AdventHealth East Orlando, however, due to the severity of his injuries, he was unable to survive and passed away. The 35-year-old driver of the Highlander was taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center for additional medical treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
There were no other passengers involved in this incident and it is unclear if either driver was wearing a seat belt when the wrong-way collision occurred.
This case is under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. No charges have been filed.
