Two People Killed During A Head-On Car Crash in Osceola County
Florida Highway Patrol officers operating in Osceola County have just started an in-depth investigation into a head-on collision that claimed the lives of two individuals earlier this week along State Road 60.
Preliminary reports from the investigative authorities with the Florida Highway Patrol indicate that it was close to 9:30 a.m. on June 15, 2022, when a 62-year-old woman and a 63-year-old man, both residents of Fort Pierce, were traveling in the westbound direction of State Road 60 in a Hyundai Elantra. As their sedan approached the highway’s intersection with Peavine Road, the 63-year-old driver attempted to pass a slower-moving semi-truck in a passing zone of the eastbound lane, and in doing so, he position the Elantra in the direct path of an oncoming Ford F-150 pickup truck carrying two men. Neither driver was able to react quickly enough to avoid a collision and the two vehicles crashed into each other head-on.
Multiple Osceola County emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene of the auto accident, as well as members of the Florida Highway Patrol and local police departments. Upon their arrival, they sadly determined that the 63-year-old male driver of the Hyundai Elantra had sustained severe injuries during the collision and had already passed away. His 62-year-old female passenger was medevaced to a local hospital but later died from her injuries.
As for the two individuals who were in the Ford F-150 when the accident occurred, the 36-year-old driver man from Groveland and his 37-year-old passenger from St. Petersburg, suffered minor injuries during the incident but did not require additional medical assistance.
This case is under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. No charges have been filed at the time of this writing.
