Two Injured and One Killed During Intersection Accident in Largo
Investigative officials in Pinellas County are currently investigating a fatal two-vehicle accident that claimed the life of one adult and seriously injured two others last Saturday evening at the intersection of Belleair Road and Keene Road in Largo.
According to early details from the responding officers with the Largo Police Department, it was approximately 8:41 p.m. on May 27, 2023, when 38-year-old Kimberly Murzyn was behind the wheel of a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta with a juvenile passenger driving toward the intersection of Belleair Road and Keene Road. Authorities indicate that as the 38-year-old driver pulled up to the stop light, she proceeded to run the red traffic signal and slammed into a 2022 GMC Sierra pickup truck that was trying to turn left onto Belleair Road.
Emergency medical teams and members of the Largo Police Department were dispatched to the scene of the auto accident and immediately transported both individuals from the Volkswagen Jetta to nearby hospitals. The child passenger was taken to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in critical condition while Kimberly Murzyn arrived at Morton Plant Hospital with severe injuries. The 38-year-old driver was unable to survive and died a short time later.
The driver of the 2022 GMC Sierra pickup truck, later identified as 63-year-old John Devlin, was also transported to the hospital where he received treatment for minor injuries. He is said to be in stable condition at the time of this writing.
No further information is available, although updates from the Largo Police Department are expected pending the outcome of the case.
