Port Orange Woman Killed in Daytona Beach Car Crash Near I-95
According to preliminary collision reports from the Daytona Beach Police Department, a 57-year-old woman was killed on February 12th, 2021, after she was involved in a multi-vehicle pileup with two other cars along International Speedway Boulevard.
It was approximately 11:30 a.m. this past Thursday morning when the local Daytona Beach authorities were first notified of a potentially fatal auto accident on International Speedway Boulevard close to where the busy highway intersects with South Clyde Morris Boulevard. Their statements indicate that a 57-year-old female resident of Port Orange was driving her white Chevy S10 pickup truck towards the intersection when, for reasons that are unknown at this time, she failed to yield for the oncoming vehicles stopped ahead of her at the traffic light and rear-ended a 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche. The momentum from this initial impact propelled the Chevy forward on its collision course, which then caused it to side-swipe a green 2005 Ford Five Hundred that was also in the area before it finally slowed down and came to a stop in the middle of the road with the driver still trapped inside.
Daytona Beach paramedics who were dispatched to the scene of the accident almost immediately discovered that the 57-year-old woman had suffered serious injuries in the collision and she was quickly transported to Halifax Health Medical Center where she sadly passed away shortly after arriving in the emergency room.
The other two drivers involved in the crash, a 21-year-old Apopka woman and a 27-year-old Daytona Beach man, were not injured. The Daytona Beach Police Department is currently investigating the events leading up to this fatal and tragic accident. It’s entirely possible that the victim suffered some sort of medical episode prior to the collision, or that perhaps there was something mechanically wrong with the pickup she was driving that prevented her from properly slowing or stopping her truck.
