Multiple People Injured in Orange County Three-Car Pileup
On Tuesday, June 30th, a multi-vehicle collision occurred in Orange County in which 5 people were injured, one of them being a child. Preliminary accident reports indicate that the Florida Highway Patrol was notified of the crash at approximately 4:15 p.m., and proceeded immediately to the scene to assess the severity of the situation.
It was just an hour before the typical rush hour traffic in Pine Hills when dispatchers first received 911 calls of a three-car crash near Silver Star Road and Golf Club Parkway. According to Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman Lt. Kim Montes, one woman was driving her Buick toward the busy intersection and attempted to make a left-hand turn through cross-traffic. When doing so, she pulled out in front of two other oncoming vehicles, both of which were unable to stop in time and ultimately crashed into her.
Within minutes of the auto accident, Orange County emergency response teams arrived on site to find that one victim had been ejected from their car, while the others remained trapped inside their vehicles unable to free themselves. Local city firefighters were also enlisted to extinguish a car fire that had started due to the impact of the collision. After working diligently for over forty minutes, rescuers with the OCFR were thankfully able to extricate all drivers and passengers. All five people were then transported to a hospital in Pine Hills, where the driver of the Buick is said to be in critical condition. The status of the other patients is currently unknown.
This accident remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
