Multi-Vehicle Crash in Deltona Claims the Life of One Individual
Three people were injured and one person was killed yesterday afternoon during a multi-vehicle accident along State Road 415 in Deltona, according to early reports from troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol.
It was Monday, March 20, 2023, at 4:22 p.m. when a 66-year-old man from Sanford was driving a Nissan Rogue in the southbound direction of State Road 415 near Osceola Tram Road. At this same time, another driver was approaching in a Ford F-150 from the northbound lane. For reasons that have yet to be determined, the driver of the Nissan Rogue veered into the northbound lane and into the direct path of the oncoming Ford F-150. The two vehicles collided violently and the Ford F-150 spun out of control into the southbound lane. From there, the truck was struck by a Ford F-350 that was pulling a trailer.
The impact from the second collision caused the Ford F-150 to roll over before the pickup truck burst into flames. The driver did not survive and was declared dead at the scene, said Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Tara Crescenzi in a statement to local media outlets.
The 66-year-old driver of the Nissan Rogue sustained minor injuries during the auto accident and was transported to the hospital by Volusia County emergency response teams.
The 51-year-old driver of the Ford F-350 and their 32-year-old passenger, both from Sanford, were also taken to a nearby medical facility with minor injuries.
This fatal three-vehicle crash is currently under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. No further information is known at this time.
