Flagler County SUV Crash on I-95 Injures Seven Passengers
According to multiple local media outlets and confirmed reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, seven people suffered a variety of injuries last Saturday evening after they were involved in a rear-end collision with another vehicle along Interstate 95 in Flagler County.
Preliminary accident reports from troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol operating within Flagler County indicate that it was approximately 11:08 p.m. on July 9, 2022, when a 44-year-old man from Georgia was driving his sport utility vehicle in the southbound direction of I-95 with two 13-year-old female passengers. As the SUV approached the exit for State Road 10, the 44-year-old driver began to feel extremely tired and unable to maintain control of his vehicle. It is unknown at this time how long the out-of-town motorist had been behind the wheel of the SUV, however, when his vehicle reached the vicinity of mile marker 283, he collided with the back of another SUV on the interstate.
The impact from the auto accident shoved the second sport utility vehicle onto the shoulder of the road before it came to a complete stop after crashing into a series of palm trees planted near the pavement.
Flagler County emergency response teams and officials with the Florida Highway Patrol were dispatched to the scene of the two-vehicle crash and found that the male passenger of the second SUV had suffered critical injuries. He was immediately secured and was transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment. The 46-year-old female driver of the vehicle and her three 13-year-old male passengers sustained minor injuries during the collision.
The 44-year-old Georgia resident was unharmed during the accident, however, it was reported that his two 13-year-old female passengers did receive minor injuries when the crash occurred.
The Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating this SUV collision. It is unclear if anyone will face formal charges, although updates are expected to be released once the authorities have officially closed their case.
