Crash on I-4 Kills Kissimmee Man, Sends 5 Others to Hospital

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on July 15, 2014

On Saturday evening at approximately 7:25 p.m. a 2003 Ford Expedition was negotiating the US-27 exit in Davenport when the driver lost control and the vehicle rolled. The passenger in the front seat, a 36-year-old Kissimmee man was ejected from the vehicle and killed. Five other passengers in the vehicle were taken to nearby hospitals. The driver was unharmed. Polk County officials believe that speed and wet conditions may have been contributing factors to the accident.

This latest incident highlights the need for drivers to be attentive to changing weather conditions and adjust their driving habits accordingly. The climate of southern Florida is typically quite humid and scattered showers are not uncommon this time of year. It is important that vehicle owners properly maintain their vehicles, especially tires when road conditions become averse. Speeds which normally would not be hazardous in good road conditions can be dangerous on wet roads.

Every year thousands of individuals are injured or killed on Florida highways in accidents that could have been prevented if the driver had adjusted their speed to the weather conditions. Not only is it dangerous for the driver, but also their passengers and other vehicles on the road as well. Innocent victims may be in the wrong place at the wrong time when a negligent driver has an accident. These types of events are especially devastating for victims. Through no fault of their own, they may be severely injured because of someone else’s careless actions. The mental and physical anguish can be overwhelming.

If you or someone you love have been injured as a result of someone else’s careless or negligent driving, please call the Law Offices of James O. Cunningham, P.A. at 877-FL-INJURY (877-354-6587) for a free initial consultation.
