Range Stove Recalled Due To Electrocution Hazard
A popular freestanding electric range stove/oven has been recalled due to electrical shock and electrocution hazards, as reported by the CPSC’s website. According to the recall, the components inside the range causing the electrical problem are not limited to one brand, but are instead spread across two companies’ products: Blomberg and Summit. The recall notice states that this recall, which became effective as of May 19th, was a direct result of a plumber being electrocuted by a range stove from one of the above mentioned companies.
Drunk Driver Runs Red Light, Leaves One Dead in Brandon, Florida
A crash between two cars along Highway 60 left one dead and the highway closed for hours. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 28 year old driver of Brandon, Florida was traveling westbound on Adamo Drive/Highway 60 near the intersection with Falkenburg Road. Upon reaching the intersection the vehicle failed to stop at a red light, causing his car to slam into the side of a car by a 25 year old Tampa native.
Driver Dead After Car Spins Out, Catches on Fire Near Tallahassee
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 19 year old female was killed in a single car accident on Interstate 10 near Tallahassee. The accident report states that the driver’s Honda Civic was traveling east when it began to rotate onto the center grass median, causing it to collide with a tree and catch on fire. The collision trapped the driver inside, leaving her dead at the scene.
Local Florida Teen Killed When Driver Falls Asleep
On Sunday, a 16 year old senior at Apopka High School was hit and killed while standing on the shoulder of the Florida Turnpike. According to police reports, the boy, Sonjay Nandram, was killed when a driver fell asleep while driving. Sonjay’s death comes just one year after his mother passed away.
Failure to Stop at Stop Sign Results in Several Deaths, Injuries in Bay County
Over the weekend a Chillicothe resident was killed in a car accident that happened in Bay County, Florida. Killed in the crash was a 25 and 30 year old man, both of Columbus, Ohio. Two other Columbus residents and the driver of the Dodge van, a 31 year old also from Ohio, were all injured in the crash and remain in critical condition.
One Dead, One Injured in Crash During Midway Police Chase
Around 4:00 pm on Thursday, February 18th, 2016, a police chase in Midway, Florida sadly ended in a crash that took one life and severely injured another individual. The chase ended when the vehicle crashed in a residential neighborhood located near the intersection of Hilltop Drive and Martin Luther King Boulevard.
Florida-Based Circus Operator May Face Federal Fines in Wrongful Death
Walker International Events, an entertainment company based in Sarasota, Florida, may face up to $33,000 in federal fines for improperly anchoring a circus tent and failing to heed warnings by the National Weather Service indicating high winds associated with a storm in New Hampshire last August. The storm’s high winds caused the circus tent to topple during a performance, killing a father and his 6-year-old daughter. An additional fifty people were injured in the incident, including two circus workers.
Worker Driving Lawn Mower Hit and Killed by Car in Orlando
In an unfortunate and unusual accident on Thursday, November 12, 2015, an Orlando maintenance worker who was driving a lawn mower was hit and killed by a car. The incident, which occurred within the Orlando neighborhood in which the man was working at the time, occurred when a blue Toyota vehicle smashed into the back of the lawn mower, where its driver was standing. Immediately after the accident occurred, the driver of the lawn mower was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Two Year Old Boy Killed in Jacksonville ATV Rollover
A 2-year-old child has been killed in the crash of an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) by his home near Jacksonville, Florida. The toddler, Camden Torres was a passenger on a Kawasaki Prairie that Noel Lewis, a 21-year-old Waycross man, was driving on Tabby Road in Ware County, GA on October 15th.
Port Orange Traffic Accident Leads to a Wrongful Death Claim
A minor traffic accident led to one man’s death and another man’s arrest on a second-degree murder charge in Port Orange, Florida. According to police, a van driven by Robert Gelles, 63, rear-ended a truck slowing down for a traffic light on the afternoon of September 13th.
