A 31-year-old Highland City man has been arrested and charged with two counts of DUI manslaughter for his direct connection to a fatal drunk driver accident that occurred back on November 20th, 2020, which subsequently killed two men, according to the latest developments in the case reported by officials with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Hillsborough County Deputy Dies in Crash Near Tampa
In Tampa, a deputy with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office was killed on Monday, January 11th, after being involved in a car accident while responding to an emergency situation. According to reports from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department, the 54-year-old deputy had worked for the law enforcement agency for several decades and was planning on retiring the following day, January 12th.
Winter Park Cyclist Dies After Being Struck by Numerous Cars
Police working within the city of Winter Garden are involved in the investigation into a fatal accident that involved a bicyclist as well as numerous cars. What we know so far comes from members of the Winter Garden Police Department who were among the first responders to the scene and issued preliminary reports on the event and its aftermath. According to these reports, the circumstances leading up to the crash began sometime around 5:30 in the morning, when a person on a bicycle was traveling down 9th Street, closing in on the intersection between this and Smith Street. At the same time, numerous other vehicles, most of them cars, were also traveling down 9th Street and Smith Street.
One Motorcyclist Killed, Passenger Badly Injured in Orlando Crash with Car
A motorcycle accident within the city of Orlando on Monday, January 11th, is believed to have caused the death of at least one individual and the serious injury of another. Hyundai Issues Another Round of Recalls for Their Popular Tucson SUV Model
The Hyundai Corporation is experiencing a rough start to their new year after announcing a recall over the weekend for over 471,000 of its well-known Hyundai Tucson model due to a dangerous electrical short in the SUV’s anti-lock brake system computer which can malfunction internally and cause a fire within the cab of the vehicle. Owners have been told to park outside until they’re able to have the defect repaired by a certified mechanic.
Winter Haven Student Injured in a Pedestrian Accident While Trying to Board Her Bus
A 16-year-old high school student is on the road to recovery today after she was struck by a car on January 7th, 2021, while attempting to board her school bus. According to preliminary collision reports from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the pedestrian accident happened along the westbound lane of Avenue G NW near 22nd Street in Winter Haven at approximately 6:20 a.m.
Skateboarder Struck and Killed by Unidentified Driver in Ocoee
Shortly after 9:00 on Sunday, an individual was on a skateboard and traveling down either Silver Star Road or 1st Street within the City of Ocoee. This person, who was not named or described other than as being an adult, was traveling within the road, but it is believed that they were either traveling along the road’s shoulder or were within a pedestrian crossing zone at the time that a vehicle – not described in the report – entered the scene. The driver of this vehicle either failed to see the skateboarder or believed that there was more space between them and the car.
Port Orange Cyclist Killed in New Year’s Eve Crash
It was on the evening of New Year’s Day that police were called to the scene of an accident between a car and a bicycle that took place at the intersection of Village Trail and Dunlawton Avenue in Port Orange. According to the Port Orange Police Department, the incident that they were there to investigate had taken place only a short time earlier, when the cyclist was either attempting to cross the intersection or was traveling near the roadway when they reached the intersection in question.
Clermont Police Officer Collides with Civilian in Two-Car Crash
Two vehicles, one of them a patrol vehicle being driven by a member of the Clermont Police Department, were involved in an accident early in January that resulted in two individuals suffering from injuries. Reports on the incident come from the Clermont Police Department who responded to reports of the accident shortly after it took place.
