Sand Lake Road fatal pedestrian accident | Orlando Accident & Injury Blog
An investigation remains ongoing into the death of a pedestrian who was struck by at least two different vehicles while attempting to cross an Orlando road. What is currently known about the incident comes from reports filed by the Florida Highway Patrol. These reports indicated that the event took place during the night on Monday, January 11th, sometime around 9:00 p.m.
Pedestrian accidents are more often fatal than any other type of car-related crash. Not surprisingly, the pedestrians, being the most vulnerable, are the ones to suffer severe, often fatal injuries. Drivers of the cars usually escape pedestrian accidents without physical injuries, although the psychological effects of being behind the wheel of a car that fatally strikes a pedestrian should not be played down. Because of the outsized power wielded by the drivers of cars, it is vitally important that they be vigilant while on the road and around pedestrians, regardless of whether or not a crosswalk is in the area.
