Accident Between Car and Motorized Scooter in Palm Bay
On Thursday Morning, 78-year-old James William Smith was driving his personal motorized scooter through a shopping plaza in Palm Bay when he tried to cross the road near the plaza’s entrance, where Palm Bay Road and Bottlebrush Drive intersect. The report filed by officials states that at the same time as Mr. Smith was trying to cross the road, a car bore down on him. Because Mr. Smith was not in a crosswalk, he was supposed to yield to the vehicle at this particular location, however neither Mr. Smith nor the as-of-yet-unnamed driver of the vehicle stopped in enough time. The car struck the scooter, tipping it over and morally wounding Mr. Smith.
Fire Starts at an Orlando Trash Facility
On Thursday night, a fire broke out in one of Orlando’s waste management facilities. The Orange County Fire Rescue reports that the fire started shortly after midnight at the trash depository situated at 4986 L B McLeod Road. This facility is a used by both public and private groups, and it was a member of one of the private trash organizations who first discovered the fire and raised the alarm by calling 911.
Recall of Kubota Utility Vehicles
The popular tractor and utility vehicle manufacturer Kubota has issued a recall concerning several models of their gas-powered utility vehicles. The recall affects the Kubota RTV400 and RTV500 models from the years 2013, 2014, and 2015. These vehicles came in both orange and camouflage design and possess serial numbers that cover 10001 to 22042 if located on the RTV400, and from 25083 to 40991 if located on the RTV500. To locate the serial number of your Kubota, owners should look at the data plate on the rear end of the cab, right before the bed of the vehicle.
Volusia Teen Killed in Ormond Beach Train Collision
On Sunday night in Ormond Beach, Robert M. Harris, a student at the Volusia County high school who had recently turned 18, was waiting for a friend to pick him up after finishing his shift at the River Grille Restaurant. The report filed by the Ormond Beach Police says that Harris called his friend, Samuel Boatner, 19, as well as an unnamed other friend, and asked them to pick him (Harris) up from the restaurant’s parking lot. While Boatner and the other friend were driving towards Harris, Harris sent them a SnapChat image. According to Boatner, the picture showed Harris on the trestle of a railroad track near to the restaurant.

The prominent and ubiquitous store Hobby Lobby has issued a recall on one of their products for children. The product is a baby rattle design that has been used in the design of many specific models of rattle. People who have purchased Hobby Lobby rattles such as the Little Wishes Chenille Stuffed rattle, the Pink and Green Fish rattle, or the Blue and Yellow Fish rattle are at risk and are encouraged to return the rattle.
Multiple Car Crashes in Haines City Leaves Two Dead and Many Injured
On Monday, around 4:00 in the afternoon, five vehicles were involved in a violent and deadly accident on U.S. Highway 27 close to Patterson Road, in Haines City. The crash was instigated by a 2012 black Mazda CX9, driven by the Winter Haven resident Melvalin Powell Bryan, which was driving north on Highway 27 when it suddenly swerved into the southbound lanes. According to the report filed by the Assistant Police Chief Brian McNulty, Bryan’s Mazda proceeded to side-swipe a black 2008 Lexus before colliding with a white 2007 Hyundai Elantra. Due to the impact, the Elantra plowed into the next lane, was hit in the right rear by a 2015 Toyota Camry, and then flipped onto the Camry’s hood.
Multiple Cars Involved in Fatal Crash Near Disney Springs
Around 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, three cars, a 2016 Toyota, a 2016 Nissan, and a 2011 Volkswagen, were stopped at the stoplight at the intersection of State Road 535 and Meadowcreek Drive. Before the light turned green, a four-door Toyota traveling north on State Road 535 reached the intersection. The driver of the Toyota, the 24-year-old Carlos Cintron Torres, did not stop or slow down his vehicle as he approached the intersection. The first car crash involved the 2016 Toyota, and then his car went on to collide with the back of the Nissan as well. Due to the high magnitude of the impact, the Nissan was thrust into the Volkswagen ahead of it.
Orlando Hit-and-Run Becomes Escape from Fiery Wreck
On Monday morning, a hit-and-run accident occurred in Orlando, on I-4, close to Michigan Street. A few moments later, the car involved, a four-door Chevrolet, took a turn too fast, flipped, and crashed into a pole at Michigan Street and Woods Avenue. According to the Florida Highway patrol, two women and a boy crawled out of the upside-down vehicle as it ignited in flames. The trio then climbed into another car which was at the scene and fled.
Orlando Passenger Killed in Saturday Night Car Crash
On Saturday night, Jean Luckner Camille, 43, of Orlando, was a passenger in the 2007 Chrysler 300 being driven by the 49-year-old Marie Etiene, also of Orlando, as Etiene drove the car north on Rio Grande Avenue in Orange County. According to the Florida Highway Patrol spokesperson, Sgt. Kim Montes, Etiene suddenly lost control of the vehicle, swerved into the southbound lane, crossed over the sidewalk, and crashed into a fence with a concrete pillar.
Orlando Motorcyclist Dies in Wednesday Night Crash
Soon after 10:30 on Wednesday night, Orlando police were called to the intersection of East Landstreet Road and Boggy Creek Road south of State Road 528. What they found there was a mangled motorcycle that had crashed into a semi-truck. The accident, which occurred along East Landstreet’s 2400 block, close to Orlando’s International Airport, was particularly gruesome, and the driver of the motorcycle was unable to be identified along race or age boundaries.
