Palm Coast Firefighters Rescue Utility Services Employee from Top of Tower
Around 2:10 on Wednesday afternoon, firefighters with the Palm Coast Fire Department and the Flagler County Fire Rescue arrived at Palm Coast’s primary water tower. The tower, a 150-foot monstrosity, had been undergoing general maintenance by members of the Utility Services for Palm Coast. That day, temperatures in Palm Coast began to spike, and by the early afternoon they were well into the zone of danger. Although the employees of Utility Services were inside the tower and away from the harmful rays of the sun, they were still trapped in a confined space without air conditioning, where the temperatures began rising well above the recorded outside temperature.
Poor Road Conditions in Orlando’s Lake Davis Neighborhood
As one of Orlando’s oldest neighborhoods, Lake Davis holds a place of high esteem in the minds of many Orlando residents (not the least of whom are those who live along its beautiful streets). Recently, an issue with the quality of the roadways has come up that is leaving those who live in Lake Davis understandably frustrated. According to these residents, the historic brick road located in their neighborhood has needed repairs for several years, but that now the state of the road is such that it is becoming dangerous.
Orlando Man Killed in Deadly Side Impact Collision
At approximately 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon in Orange County, Florida, a fatal t-bone accident involving two vehicles occurred on State Road 417 near Mile Marker 23. Northbound lanes surrounding the collision were temporarily closed by the authorities, but were later reopened after the scene was cleared.
Warehouse Fire in Marion County Under Investigation
Early in the morning on this past Saturday, a warehouse in Marion County erupted in flames due to reasons that are not currently known or available. According to the report from the Marion County Fire Rescue, the warehouse, a 3,000 square-foot building sitting along north U.S. Highway 301, was located in the town of Citra. It is believed that the fire began at some point during the early hours of Saturday. By the time the fire rescue teams arrived at 1:10 in the morning, the building was completely engulfed in flames.

Investigators with the Florida Highway Patrol are still searching for reasons behind a 66-year-old woman’s car accident this past Tuesday in Orlando. The information compiled so far is scant, although it does paint a redeeming portrait of humanity in the guise of the unnamed civilians who saved the woman’s life.
Is it Time for Florida to Slow Down?
Depending on the outcome of pending legislation, Florida drivers may soon find themselves taking the pedal off the metal. This is because the Florida legislature is currently considering lowering average speed limits across the state, from the current average of 45 mph to 25 mph in some areas. The current speed limit on most city, commercial and residential streets in 30 mph. School zones are 15 to 20 mph.
Orlando Couple’s Argument Ends when Husband Drives over Wife
An argument between a couple in Orlando changed from a normal marital dispute into something far more serious when a woman’s husband ran her over with his car, resulting in her being admitted in a serious condition to Florida Hospital East. The Florida Highway Patrol issued a statement regarding the incident that provides us with all the currently known information. It seems that during the argument, the victim’s husband decided to climb into his Nissan Versa and leave the premises. The woman, in an attempt to prevent him from departing, used her body as a deterrent. The tactic, while seemingly foolproof, did not work, and the husband simply drove over her.

On July 19th, a woman was involved in a crash close to Tampa. She later died from her injuries. An investigation was launched, and the findings recently released. The conclusion is far from comforting.
Florida State Representative Moves for Harsher Penalties on Texting and Driving
Florida State Representative Emily Slosberg is working to build support for a new proposed law that would make texting while driving in Florida a primary offense. Florida is one of only four states where texting and driving isn’t a primary offense. According to current law, it is a secondary offense, meaning that law enforcement cannot pull a motorists over if seen texting and driving. A citation can only be issued if the reason for the pull over is another offense, such as speeding or failure to stop.
Three Hospitalized after Orange County Crash
Last Friday, a box truck transporting coconuts north on State Road 429 around 5:10 in the evening got a flat tire around mile marker 15. The truck pulled over to the side of the road and the driver exited the vehicle. A passing driver in a Ford van noticed that the box truck and pulled over to assist. While they were sitting on the northbound shoulder, another Ford, a pickup pulling a trailer, approached the incident. At this time, all of the occupants of both the truck and the van were standing outside of their vehicles, appraising the situation and attempting to change the tire.
