Fatal Florida Car Accident on I-4
Two teens accused of carjacking a man in Oakland later crashed the same vehicle as they tried to exit the Florida Turnpike onto I-4. The two teens pointed a gun in the victim’s face and demanded he hand over the keys to his 1998 BMW. They then proceeded away from the scene at a high rate of speed which later resulted in the accident. Both young men were ejected from the vehicle. One was fatally injured and the other is in critical condition.
Early Morning Crash in Florida on I-4
A crash on westbound Interstate 4 has westbound traffic snarled to a stop, according to officials. The crash occurred around 7:20 this morning. At this time, no injuries are being reported. The Florida Highway Patrol is working to get westbound traffic flowing again, but for now the pace is a slow crawl.
Head-On Accident Injures Two Children and Critically Injures Two Women
A recent head-on collision involving two passenger cars in Seminole County has injured two children and critically injured the two women, who were driving the vehicles. According to Florida Highway Patrol troopers investigating the accident, the accident occurred around 8 a.m. on U.S. Highway 17-92 near Interstate 4. Troopers report that a 50-year-old Orange City woman was driving a Chrysler south on U.S. Highway 17-92 when she traveled into the northbound lanes and struck a Honda coupe head-on. The driver of the Honda, a 29-year-old Deltona woman, and the driver of the Chrysler were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where they received treatment for critical injuries.
Man Killed when Driver Crashes into Medical Building in New Smyrna Beach
Police investigators say that a 63-year-old man was killed and two other people were injured recently when a woman backed her car 40 feet into a medical office building in New Smyrna beach. Police report that the 78-year-old driver backed her car into the Coronado Medical Office Building on Palmetto Street shortly before 2 p.m. Although their investigation is ongoing, police say that the woman somehow backed the vehicle directly between two pillars before plowing 40 feet into the lobby of the building. There were several people waiting in the lobby for appointments at the time of the accident, including the fatally injured man.
UCF Students and Local Bar Owners Say New Parking Policy will Encourage Drunk Driving
University of Central Florida students and local bar owners say that a new university parking policy will encourage drunk driving in our area. The school recently issued a warning that all vehicles parked overnight at an off-campus plaza will be towed and impounded and owners will have to pay a $125 fine to get their vehicle back. The plaza is a very popular place to park for UCF students frequenting nearby bars. Students claim that the new policy encourages them to get into their cars after a night of drinking and drive down to Alafaya Trail, one of the most notorious roadways for drunk driving in Orange County.
Winter Springs Plans to Rebuild Dangerous Intersection
Orlando car accident lawyers caution readers to be extra wary while driving, walking or biking in Winter Springs for the next several months while city officials and road construction crews fix one of the most dangerous intersections in central Florida. Winter Springs Mayor Charles Lacey call the intersection of State Road 434 and Tuskawilla Road one of the most "confusing" and "awkward" intersections in the area and most local drivers would agree. This is especially true for anyone traveling south on Tuskawilla Road who needs to make a right turn to travel west on S.R. 434. For many years, they have been forced to travel down a side street and merge into S.R. 434, where drivers are traveling at highway speeds. It’s tricky and dangerous, but if drivers take the more direct route onto S.R. 434, they face getting ticket from Winter Springs Police officers.
Two-Year-Old Girl Injured in Lake County Drunk Driving Accident
Florida Highway Patrol troopers have arrested a 27-year-old Lady Lake woman in connection with a drunk driving accident that injured a 2-year-old girl riding in the woman’s car. Troopers say the suspect faces numerous criminal charges, including DUI and causing serious bodily injury, leaving the scene of an accident, child neglect and other charges. The accident occurred on Grays Airport Road in Lady Lake around 9 p.m. one recent evening when the driver, who was traveling southbound in a Pontiac Grand Prix veered off the road, hit a telephone pole and mailbox and rolled over after striking a tree.
Making Dangerous Stretch of I-4 More Accessible for Emergency Vehicles
Orlando auto accident lawyers fully support efforts to make a particularly dangerous stretch of Interstate 4 in Volusia County more accessible for emergency responders. A recent editorial in the Daytona Beach News-Journal called the portion of I-4 between State Road 44 and U.S. 92 “a cattle chute,” due to the high rate of accidents during road construction and the difficulties emergency responders are having in getting to people injured in these accidents.
Reckless Driver Flees After Crashing Car Into Gas Station
Casselberry police have arrested the driver of a car who lost control and crashed into a gas station, starting a potentially deadly fire. They report that the accident occurred around 2 a.m. one recent morning at a Circle K gas station as the driver was speeding down State Road 436 and attempted to make a turn at Howell Branch Road. Police report that the driver lost control of his car while making the turn and crashed into the gas station. Officers say that the quick actions of the gas station attendant prevented a much larger fire, as he assessed the situation and hit the station’s emergency gas shutoff valve.
