18-Year-Old Killed in Cocoa After Being Run Over Three Times

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on July 5, 2016

The Florida Highway Patrol has released a statement identifying the 18-year-old man who died early Friday morning after being run over by three separate cars. A Cocoa resident, Travis Crapps, is reported to have been lying in the middle of Citrus Boulevard’s eastbound lane when the first car struck him around 4:30 a.m. As of this moment, it is unclear why exactly Crapps was lying in the middle of the street, and the driver of the 2006 Ford pickup that first ran the boy over stated that he never even saw the 18-year-old.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, two other vehicles, both driving east on Citrus Boulevard, ran over Crapps after the pickup. Crapps was pronounced dead at the scene.

This accident is currently under investigation, and very few details have been released. Surrounding this incident are a number of questions which will hopefully receive answers in the upcoming days. Firstly, why was Crapps lying in the middle of the road? Was it in any way possible to have seen him? Was he wearing dark clothing? Had he been injured before being struck by the first car? Are there perhaps more vehicles involved than the pickup and the other two? These sorts of questions will become essential as the investigation moves forward and as those friends and family Crapps leaves behind seek answers to his confusing and mysterious death.

As well as the above mentioned questions, the statuses of the three car’s drivers are also unknown. Any injuries that they may have sustained have not been released in a statement by the Florida Highway Patrol. It is also unknown if any of the cars were traveling with additional passengers, and, if so, what condition those passengers were in after the collision with Crapps.

The investigation will likely provide more answers, but as of yet not enough information has been complied for any formal charges to be brought against anyone. Discovering who is responsible for a person’s death — especially when that death seems preventable — is an essential task, and one that the Florida courts are there to help solve.
