SUV Rollover Near the Orlando International Airport Kills Two Passengers
The family and friends of two Florida car crash victims are in mourning and trying to figure out how to move forward with their lives this week after their loved ones were tragically killed last Saturday during an auto accident near the Orlando International Airport.
According to initial incident reports from the Orlando Police Department, it was shortly after 2:30 a.m. on July 9, 2022, when 34-year-old Erica Pacheco and 56-year-old David Morales were riding as passengers in a Land Rover heading in the southbound direction of Jeff Fuqua Boulevard. It was as the luxury vehicle reached the vicinity of Cargo Road that something caused the driver of the SUV to unexpectedly leave the roadway. The Land Rover veered to the right off of Jeff Fuqua Boulevard, crashed into a concrete barrier, and rolled over into a nearby canal.
Although specific details surrounding the chain of events that led to the SUV collision, authorities with the Orlando Police Department have stated that as soon as they showed up at the scene of the crash, 56-year-old David Morales and 34-year-old Erica Pacheco were said to be in serious condition and were immediately transported to a local hospital. Both passengers sadly died soon after their arrival due to the severe nature of their injuries. An additional passenger and the driver of the Land Rover sustained minor injuries during the accident.
Commuters and travelers attempting to catch their flights at the Orlando International Airport were delayed for hours while members of the Orlando Police Department gathered evidence and accident clean-up crews removed the SUV from the pond and residual debris from the deadly collision. “People were pulling luggage down the highway trying to get to their flights on time. We didn’t want to take that chance, especially with people driving in the wrong direction. We just stayed in our vehicle and waited,” said Volusia County resident Joseph Giordano.
