Several Injured During Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-4 in Orlando
Five people sustained a variety of injuries earlier this morning after they were involved in a multi-vehicle pileup along Interstate 4 in Orange County, according to troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol.
Preliminary reports from the Florida Highway Patrol indicate that it was approximately 5:00 a.m. on Monday, February 6, 2023, when a 38-year-old man from Mascotte was driving a Ford F-150 on a westbound entrance ramp to I-4 near Central Florida Parkway in Orlando. As the pickup truck entered the interstate, a 39-year-old man from Kissimmee driving an SUV purportedly passed in front of the Ford F-150 and the two vehicles collided.
Immediately after the initial accident occurred, the SUV careened out of control onto the shoulder of I-4 before crashing into a construction attenuator truck that was bringing attention to the approaching work zone.
Several Orange County emergency response teams arrived at the scene of the accident and worked together to extract the 39-year-old Kissimmee driver from his sport utility vehicle. He was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center in serious condition. Two passengers in the SUV were also hurt during the crash and were taken to the hospital, but the severity of their injuries is unknown at this time.
A 69-year-old man from Orlando, who was behind the wheel of the crash attenuator truck, suffered minor injuries and received treatment at a local hospital.
Authorities stated that the 38-year-old pickup truck driver from Mascotte was injured as well, but did not go into further detail.
Accident clean-up crews were able to reopen Interstate 4 after just a few hours.
This three-vehicle crash is currently under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
