RSSNew Jersey Man Dies After Falling From Pickup Truck in Flagler County
Preliminary reports from the responding officers with the Florida Highway Patrol indicate that a 51-year-old man lost his life late last week during an accident involving a pickup truck along Clove Avenue in Flagler County.
According to early auto accident details provided by troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol working within Flagler County, it was close to 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2023, when a 14-year-old boy was driving a pickup truck in the westbound direction of Clove Avenue while a 51-year-old man from Budd Lake, New Jersey stood on the running boards of the pickup holding on to the truck’s open door.
As the pair, whose relationship has not yet been determined by local authorities, approached the intersection of Clove Avenue and Rosewood Street, the young driver lost control of the truck and swerved over onto the northbound shoulder of Clove Avenue, which ejected the New Jersey man from his position on the pickup.
Flagler County emergency personnel and members of the Florida Highway Patrol were dispatched to the scene of the accident and immediately transported the 51-year-old man to the nearest hospital. He was unable to survive the severity of his injuries and passed away shortly thereafter.
The 14-year-old driver was unharmed during the incident. Under Florida law, juveniles who are under the age of 16 are required to obtain a learner’s permit before operating a motor vehicle.
This fatal accident is currently under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. No further information has been released at this time.
