Local Resident Killed During Crash with Pickup in Leesburg

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on May 27, 2023

Officers with the Leesburg Police Department are currently investigating the death of a 73-year-old man after he was killed during an auto accident with another motorist last Wednesday morning along U.S. Highway 441 in Lake County.

Preliminary crash details from the traffic unit with the Leesburg Police Department indicate that it was approximately 11:40 a.m. on May 24, 2023, when 73-year-old local resident David Reno was driving a silver 2007 Chevy sedan-style car in the northbound direction of U.S. Highway 441, approaching Perkins Street. At this same time, 22-year-old Terrin Lawson and his 18-year-old female passenger, Taraya McBride, were pulling up to the same intersection from the southbound direction of the highway in a black 2011 GMC pickup. Accident reports state that as the 73-year-old driver attempted to make a left turn onto Perkins Street, the two vehicles were involved in a T-bone collision.

Several Lake County and Leesburg emergency responders were dispatched to the scene of the car accident and after quickly assessing the situation, they immediately transported all three individuals involved in the crash to the nearest hospital. The two victims from the pickup truck were treated for undisclosed injuries, but survived the deadly incident.

The driver of the Chevy, 73-year-old David Reno, sustained life-ending injuries during the collision and passed away at the medical facility later in the day.

No additional information regarding this fatal auto accident is known at this time. An investigation is being conducted by the Leesburg Police Department.
