Florida Turnpike Collision Claims the Life of a 27-Year-Old St. Cloud Woman
As the Memorial Day weekend comes to a close, authorities with the Florida Highway Patrol are currently working to determine the cause of yet another fatal auto accident in Orange County. Preliminary crash reports indicate that on Monday, May 31st, 2021, a motorist from St. Cloud tragically lost her life after she was ejected from her vehicle along the Florida Turnpike close to State Road 528.
It was approximately 3 a.m. when on-duty officers with the Florida Highway Patrol operating within Orange County were notified and dispatched to the scene of an auto accident with potential fatalities. According to their investigation, a 27-year-old woman from St. Cloud was driving a 2018 Hyundai in the southern direction of the Florida Turnpike when something occurred to make her activate the car’s emergency hazard lights and pull over to the inside shoulder of the road. At this same time, a 2004 Infiniti SUV which was being driven by a 28-year-old man from Kissimmee entered the vicinity of the disabled Hyundai.
For reasons that will most certainly be determined as the Florida Highway Patrol’s investigation progresses, the driver of the Infiniti lost control of the SUV and slammed into the interstate’s protective guardrail lining the roadway. Its collision course continued down the guardrail before it violently rear-ended the aforementioned Hyundai with enough force to throw the 27-year-old woman from her vehicle. The SUV finally came to a complete stop after overturning further down the turnpike.
Upon their arrival at the crash site, Orange County emergency response teams worked feverishly to administer life-saving medical assistance to the severely injured 27-year-old woman, however, her injuries were too extreme for her to recover from and she passed away shortly after EMTs started their attempts to save her.
Although he only suffered minor injuries in the collision, the 28-year-old driver of the SUV now faces legal ramifications brought forth by the Florida Highway Patrol investigators. The exact nature of the charges have yet to be determined.
