Witnesses to an accident between a car and a pedestrian on Colonial Drive in Orange County say that the situation began when two pedestrians became involved in an argument. The Florida Highway Patrol’s report states that it was on Sunday, April 8th, when the incident that lead to the death of one of the people involved in the verbal altercation began.
Orlando Community Mourns Death of Girl Struck by Car
A little over a week ago, on Sunday, March 18th, police with the Orange County Police Department responded with other emergency rescue teams from Orlando and Orange County to reports of a accident involving a pedestrian and a car along Silver Star Road. The official report from the police indicates that at close to 5:45 in the evening, a 19-year-old individual driving a Mercury Cougar was traveling down Silver Star Road, nearing the place where this road intersects with Dardanelle Drive, when an 8-year-old child ran into the street directly in front of them.
Fatal Orange County Car vs. Pedestrian Collision
Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol have issued a statement regarding the death of a woman who was struck and killed while crossing the road in Orange County on Sunday, March 4th. In their account, they were called to Colonial Drive’s westbound lanes during the night after someone, either one of the people involved or an individual who witnessed the crash, called 9-1-1 to report a collision between a car and a pedestrian.

A massive search is underway in Orange County to find and apprehend the individual responsible for a hit-and-run crash that took place in downtown Orlando on Thursday Night. Initial reports on the incident suggest that the crash left at least two people injured, although it does not appear that any of the injuries were fatal or critical.

Orange County Crash Leaves Pedestrian Dead
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a pedestrian was killed after being hit by two vehicles in Orange County. The incident happened on Tuesday evening at North Pine Hills Road and White Heron Drive. A Volkswagen heading north on North Pine Hills Road and driven by a 25 year old female hit the pedestrian, who has only been identified as being a male. This impact threw the victim into the southbound lanes, where he was run over by a Chrysler driven by a 34 year old male. No further information was released as an investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
Operation BFF Seeks to Reduce Pedestrian Fatalities in Orange County
This Wednesday, police in Orange County initiated higher vigilance and presence around six intersections in Orange County in an ongoing attempt to decrease pedestrian fatalities throughout the area. A part of the ongoing Operation Best Foot Forward, the increased police monitoring is aimed at reducing the number of pedestrian fatalities in Orange county after a particularly bad year of accidents. The initial day of heightened observation focused around crosswalks and intersections known throughout Orange County for their difficulty in crossing on foot.
Orlando Pedestrian Accident Sends High School Senior to the Hospital
A senior at Timber Creek High School was recovering recently after being struck by a car as she walked to a school bus stop. The 17-year-old Orlando girl had just missed her bus and was walking across Mark Twain Boulevard around 6:30 a.m. to catch it at the next stop when she was struck by a white Honda S2000. She was taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children for treatment after the pedestrian accident, but her condition was not known at the time the Orlando Sentinel article was published. A Florida Highway Patrol spokesperson said that the girl’s injuries did not appear to be serious.
