Though there have been 16 accidents at Orlando’s Zoom Air since it opened in July 2012, Florida’s Bureau of Fair Rides Inspection recently said the zip line courses were safe. Despite recent deaths at Orlando amusement parks, the zip line company says they are not concerned, and that their facilities are inspected twice a year.

Orlando Stolen Car Involved in Hit and Run Accident
On March 27th, a stolen car crashed into several businesses on Orlando’s East Colonial Drive. The vehicle split in half and a teenager fled from the scene. Police are still investigating the accident, and residents are lucky they weren’t in the line of the vehicle when it slammed into the sidewalk and ran into buildings.

In Central Florida, an estimated 1,300 people use a bicycle to get to work each day, and Orlando is no exception. Still, even as more and more people use their bike as their main means of transportation, road planning and safety has not caught up, and Florida has the highest per capita rate of bicycle accidents in the country.
Helicopter in Orlando Crashes into House
911 operators were flooded with calls after a helicopter crashed into a house in Orlando on March 24. They reported seeing large amounts of smoke coming from the house after the accident.
Florida Victims of Wednesday’s Head-On Collision Identified
The two drivers involved in Wednesday morning’s fatal head-on collision on Apopka Vineland Road have been identified. According to the Florida High Patrol the victims are Lidiya Varvak, 54, of Orlando, and Joel Shoaf, also of Orlando.
Underage Pensacola Driver Killed In Crash
On Monday, March 23, a teen motorist was killed in a single-car crash in Pensacola. The driver drifted onto the shoulder of the road and his vehicle collided with a utility pole, where the force of impact caused the vehicle to roll and eject the driver from the vehicle. The driver was only 15-years-old.
Hospital Executive Killed In Tampa Pedestrian Accident
Accidents can happen anytime, and usually when we least expect it. On March 20, a newly retired hospital executive was on vacation in Tampa with his wife when a car hit them while they were walking on the sidewalk. The couple was rushed to the hospital, and though his wife survived, the executive died within hours.
Study Shows Florida Most Dangerous State for Pedestrians
A study from Smart Growth America last year showed that Florida is the most dangerous state in the United States for pedestrians, and the four most dangerous places to walk in the state are Orlando, Tampa, Clearwater and Jacksonville.
