Man Killed at Walt Disney World Speedway
In early April, a man was killed in a car accident at the Exotic Driving Experience at the Walt Disney World Speedway. The man, who was a passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver was taken to Celebration Hospital for minor injuries.
Bad Florida Driver Charged with Hit and Run
Across the country, hit and run accidents are on the increase, causing state legislature and local governments to look at stiffen penalties for people who flee from the scene of an accident. Data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration show that the number of fatal hit-and-run crashes went from 1,274 in 2009, to 1,393 in 2010, to 1,449 in 2011. That was a 13.7% increase in hit-and-run deaths.

Altamonte Springs Woman Injured While Getting Off Bus
An Altamonte Springs woman was injured Friday morning, while stepping off of a metro bus. Julia Fernandez had just exited a Lynx bus when she was struck by a Honda Civic driven by Lisa Kornacki, 26, also of Altamonte Springs. According to authorities, Kornacki was traveling westbound on State Road 436 when noticed at the last second that traffic was stopped in front of her.
Fatal Tampa Single-Car Accident
An 18-year-old Tampa woman died on April 17th when her car crashed off Henderson Road. She was driving north on the road when she veered off, hit a sign, and then hit a tree. No other cars were involved in the accident.

Florida Motorcyclist Dies After Hit and Run Accident
Police in Hollywood, Florida, say they found the body of 30-year-old Jason Swanson in the street. The motorcycle was engulfed in flames at the middle of South 56th Avenue just north of Washington Street on March 31. Officers tried to render aid and put out the flames but were unable to. The flames were only extinguished when Hollywood Fire Rescue arrived. Swanson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Woman Charged in Fatal Orlando Drunk Driving Accident
Despite the best efforts of several concerned citizens, a 42-year Orlando businessman died in a drunk driving accident. The accident took place in 2013, but the woman who caused the accident was only charged April 14th of this year.
Florida Highest in Boating Accident Rates
In April, Bill Jefferson, the former commander of the Cape Coral Sail and Power Squadron, wrote an editorial for News-Press detailing boating accidents in Florida. He said that Florida has more boating accidents than any other state in the U.S., and also more fatal boating accidents.
