New ‘Designated Skipper’ Program

Florida Commissioners Campaign for Barriers Outside of Day-Care Centers

After 4-year-old Lily Quintus was hit by a car while at day-care last year, commissioners are campaigning for protective barriers to be put in place outside of day-care centers. Lily Quintus was killed when a car ran into her KinderCare facility on Goldenrod Road last April, and fourteen other people were also injured.

Florida Lynx Bus Investigations

Orlando Woman Walking Bike in Crosswalk Struck by Car

A 37-year old woman was walking her bicycle along 17-92 in Sanford, near Orlando, in early May when she was hit by a car. She was walking her bicycle through a crosswalk when she was hit be a vehicle driving south. Though the vehicle did have a green light, pedestrians still normally have the right of way in a crosswalk.

Semoran Boulevard Pedestrian Deaths

On Semoran Boulevard, the most dangerous street in the most dangerous city for pedestrians, there have been more than 25 crashes and six deaths involving pedestrians just in the last seven years. Florida Motorcyclist Killed in Friday’s Crash

Joel Gordon, a 28-year-old resident of Georgia was killed Friday morning in a crash on University Drive in Plantation, just north of Broward Boulevard. According to authorities, the driver of the motorcycle was travelling north with a passenger on University Drive shortly before lunchtime when a white Acura SUV turned in front of them. They collided with the SUV and were ejected from the motorcycle on impact. Gordon was pronounced dead at the scene while his female passenger was transported to Broward Medical Center with critical injuries.

Tamarac Man Perishes In Accident on Florida Turnpike

An auto accident that occurred Tuesday during the morning commute hours has claimed the life of a 46-year-old Tamarac man. Florida Highway Patrol has identified the driver as Hubert Anderson, and his passenger as 67-year-old Leslie Anderson, also of Tamarac.

Teenage Girl Killed in Dade City Crash

Dade City is mourning 17-year-old Jordan Ivie who was killed in a car accident on April 24th. She and her boyfriend were running errands that morning, when they veered of the road to avoid an oncoming vehicle and hit four trees before coming to a stop. Both the driver and passenger were wearing seatbelts, and emergency responders airlifted Ivie to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery before she was eventually pronounced dead.
