Plane Crashes into Bartow Church Parking Lot
In Bartow this past Sunday, the 300-plus congregation of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church were in the middle of their normal worship ceremony when a loud crashing noise coming from their parking lot. While the service continued, one of the church members left the sanctuary in order to determine what exactly caused the disturbance. Their search ended quickly and strongly when they saw a small plane crashed into the church’s parking lot.
Operation BFF Seeks to Reduce Pedestrian Fatalities in Orange County
This Wednesday, police in Orange County initiated higher vigilance and presence around six intersections in Orange County in an ongoing attempt to decrease pedestrian fatalities throughout the area. A part of the ongoing Operation Best Foot Forward, the increased police monitoring is aimed at reducing the number of pedestrian fatalities in Orange county after a particularly bad year of accidents. The initial day of heightened observation focused around crosswalks and intersections known throughout Orange County for their difficulty in crossing on foot.
Three Injured, Including State Trooper, in Orlando Crash
In an unusual and unfortunate turn of events, an accident took place on Monday that sent three individuals to the hospital, including a Florida State Trooper. The initial report suggests that the trooper, who has yet to be named, was traveling in Orange County on State Road 528 when they noticed a car then attempting to make an illegal U-turn. The trooper was driving an official Florida State Trooper SUV which was also a K-9 unit.

Statistics Show that Workplace Fatality Rate Increases in Florida
A surprising report that was released in March of this year shows that, while on-the-job fatalities are declining across most of the united states, workplaces in Florida are becoming less and less safe. In a thoroughly researched piece, the Orlando Sentinel discussed the contemporary issue as well as some of the many cases that have led to Florida’s fatality rate increasing from 2.7 to 3.1 deaths for every 1,000 confirmed workers. The Bureau of Labor Statistics said that the recent year-long reporting period showed that while Florida’s fatality rate increased the national worker fatality rate declined, going from 3.43 deaths for every 1,000 workers to 3.38.

But over the past few years, the amount of people who aren’t just seeing the sights, but taking up residency in the great Sunshine State has increased dramatically and people are noticing.
Orlando Man Struck and Killed on Forest City Road
On Saturday, a car of an unknown make or model was driving southward on Forest City Road close to 8:30 in the evening when it struck a man who was crossing the street. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating this accident which occurred close to All American Boulevard in Orange County. The initial findings suggest that the accident occurred when the pedestrian crossed directly in front of the vehicle as marks on the car clearly show the collision happening along its forward end. At this point in time, it is not clear whether or not the driver or the pedestrian is at fault for the accident.
Family Saved from Burning Car after Collision in Orlando
The bravery and quick thinking of several witnesses to a violent accent at the intersection of Orlando’s East Colonial Drive and Forsyth Road likely saved the life of a child. The accident, which led to the injury of six people, took place on Wednesday morning after a 2001 Honda Accord driven by Anaida Angulo collided with the rear end of a Toyota minivan being driven by an unnamed man from Maryland. Inside the car with the man from Maryland were the rest of his family, which included his three children.
Pedestrian In Critical Condition after Orlando Hit-and-Run
Another unnamed Orlando pedestrian was struck by a car this week. This accident, which took place on Wednesday morning, happened along Interstate 4. Interstate 4 is located in downtown Orlando, making it a highway that carries a particularly high-volume of car traffic. While there are pedestrian bridges and safe options for foot traffic located at various points along this stretch of road, it seems as though the woman, who has not been named, was crossing the highway itself, trying to dodge cars as she made her way over the highways lanes. At the time of this writing, the Florida Highway Patrol is uncertain as to why the woman chose to cross the interstate.
Pedestrian Struck by Car and Killed on State Road 436
An unnamed woman was attempting to cross State Road 436 in Orange County on Monday morning when she was hit by a passing car. The Florida Highway Patrol has issued a statement that sums up the current information around the case, and their report indicates that the crash took place near 5:10 in the morning, close to where State Road 436 crosses Old Cheney Highway.
