Florida Woman Crashes Car with Unbuckled Child in Passenger Seat
Officers working with the Cocoa Police Department found themselves engaged in an unusual DUI arrest on Thursday, August 9th, after discovering a car that had collided with a tree around 3:00 in the morning. It is not clear if the police were called to the scene or if an officer on routine patrol discovered the crash, but soon there were numerous emergency units at the scene of the incident including paramedics and EMTs.
Office Building Near Orlando Airport Evacuated after Toxic Chemicals Enter HVAC
Employees working within a large office building close to the Orlando International Airport were involved in a severe chemical accident that resulted in several hospitalizations as well as a large-scale evacuation of the building in question. Early reports form the Orlando Fire Department state that the incident took place in the Citadel Building, located along 5850 T G Lee Boulevard, and that it most likely had to do with work being performed along the building’s roof.
Man Fatally Injured after SunRail Train Collision
Officials with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office are currently investigating the death of a man who was struck by a SunRail train in Orlando this past Wednesday, August 8th. Early reports on the incident include statements from officials working with the Florida Department of Transportation as well as members of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
64 People Displaced after Fire Destroys Orlando Apartment Complex
Shortly after 8:00 on the morning of Wednesday, August 8th, dispatchers at the emergency call center for Orlando began receiving numerous calls that indicated an apartment building was on fire. Several units from the Orlando Fire Department as well as the Orange County Fire and Rescue and police teams from throughout the county responded to the the call and were able to quickly reach the Royal Isle Apartments, located along Don Quixote Road, close to State Road 436.
Driver Issued DUI After Striking FHP Cruiser in Construction Zone
Early in the morning of Friday, August 10th, a 24-year-old from Orlando was driving their 2016 Honda through a construction zone located along State Road 528 in Orange County. At the same time, a 55-year-old lieutenant in the Florida Highway Patrol, was at work in the construction zone, ensuring that the the construction workers were safe from passing cars.
Car Crashes into Parked Semi-Truck, Leaving Two Floridians Dead
Two people from Lakeland were killed Sunday during an auto accident that occurred on Interstate 75. According to the police report, the accident happened when a vehicle driven by a 26-year-old Lakeland female was driving southbound in the right hand lane of the interstate. Near Mile Marker 396, the vehicle suddenly veered out of the right lane and into a semi-truck parked in the right emergency lane. The car then ricocheted off the semi, crashing head-on into a tree.
Orlando Man Sues Driver for $15,000 in Damages
An Orlando man who was injured during a 2017 automobile accident has filed a Florida personal injury lawsuit against the driver of the other vehicle. In the suit, the plaintiff is seeking over $15,000 in damages, based on the claim that the December 18, 2017, car crash left him seriously injured and disabled. The crash happened near the intersection of Crystal Creek Boulevard and the John Young Parkway in Orlando.
Eustis Woman Struck and Killed While Crossing Highway 27 on Foot
On Thursday, August 2nd, a pedestrian was walking along the side of Highway 27, close Leesburg’s Northshore Drive, when they decided to attempt to cross the busy roadway. The Leesburg Police Department has issued an official statement regarding the incident in which all of the known information is disseminated. The end of the statement does indicate that the incident is still under investigation, which means that it is entirely possible that additional facts will come to light that will change this or that interpretation of the events that took place.
Motorcyclist Dies after T-Boning Pickup in Volusia County
A motorcyclist driving through Volusia County collided with a truck on Friday, August 3rd, as they were driving down State Road 415. A report from the Florida Highway Patrol indicates that the incident happened shortly before noon, around 11:30 in the morning, and that the truck involved was a Ford F250.
Orlando Area Bicyclist Dies in Hit-and-Run Incident
A 72-year-old male was killed in a hit-and-run incident while riding his bike in Orange City, Florida. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the accident happened early Wednesday morning. They bicyclist was attempting to cross Volusia Avenue via a marked crosswalk. As he was heading east to west, a female driving a gold or tan Suburban northbound on Enterprise Road struck the right side of the bicycle. The impact threw the elderly man off the bike and onto the road.
