Police officers within Orange County are currently searching for the driver behind a hit-and-run that happened this past Wednesday morning and left one individual receiving emergency medical care at an area hospital. Their search began after the first reports of the collision took place, sometime shortly before 4:30 in the morning.

As they do every year, the Florida Highway Patrol launched its initiative last Friday to try and reduce the number of hit-and-run accidents that take place along Florida roads. Across the county, hit-and-run drivers and subsequent deaths are a problem that police departments in every state attempt to curb with increased vigilance, awareness, and education. In Florida, hit-and-run accidents seem to be even more of an issue than elsewhere. The statistics gathered paint a dire picture. In the 2017 alone there were over 98,000 reports of hit-and-run accidents. Out of this number, 177 of the reported incidents resulted in a fatality.

A massive search is underway in Orange County to find and apprehend the individual responsible for a hit-and-run crash that took place in downtown Orlando on Thursday Night. Initial reports on the incident suggest that the crash left at least two people injured, although it does not appear that any of the injuries were fatal or critical.

An Orange County Family was surprised early on Tuesday morning at close to 5:30am when they awoke to the sound of squealing tires and crashing from their front driveway. Orange County Deputy Injured in Stolen Car Hit-and-Run
On Wednesday of last week, a deputy with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office was on patrol when they were called in to assist in the pursuit of a stolen vehicle just after 11:30 in the morning. According to the report, the unnamed deputy was following the vehicle along South Goldenrod Road when the two cars neared Pershing Avenue. Somehow, and this is something that one hopes will be fleshed out in future reports from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the driver of the stolen vehicle managed to either get themselves behind the trailing cruiser or simply turned around so that the two vehicles were face to face.
Bartow Man Killed in Polk County Hit-and-Run
A spokesperson with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that a hit-and-run accident that took place early on Sunday morning has claimed the life of one person and another on the run from detectives. The full report, which was issued earlier today, outlines the events as they are currently understood and ends with a plea to the public to help investigators track down and apprehend the individual who perpetrated this deadly act.
